PS3 Firmware 3.56 Blocks Users With Upgraded HDD's?

Wow Sony. Just.. Wow. I can't believe how they keep messing with their fanbase like this.

Supposedly, this might just be some sort of a bug, meaning it wasn't intentional by Sony. But these constant PS3 firmware and install issues are seriously getting out of hand!

90% of this is always idiot user X who shut off his PS3 during the update or who either had a faulty/worn out HDD or dying system thanks to abuse. Then everybody and their brother complains while the actual failures remain insanely low, numbering in the single or double digits.

Possibly. But I gotta say I'm really not liking where this present generation of "console gaming" is going. Yeah, consoles.. remember them - they're supposed to be different than PC's? Just load in the cartridge or cd and they start up??

Anyway, I dunno about you, but I buy my game systems to play video games, not sit and stare at install screens all the time.. and certainly not having to worry about whether it's going to red ring (in the 360's case) or brick after an update (more familiar in the PS3 community) after six months.

Sub-question: How come we never hear about this kinda shit going on with Nintendo?

Im fairly sure this happened in a previous update and was quickly corrected. Aka its a bug.

I'll need to go digging to find a source though.

This was an error from a previous firmware update as well. Will get patched soon.. It mainly effects the PS3 models with 16MB flash.. Seriously some of you people on these forums just jump the gun..

i didn't have any problems and my ps3 was an 80gb but has been upgraded to 500gb

It probably was a model with 256 MB flash memory.. This is only affecting 16 MB newer models so of course this wasn't intentional.. They are saying some slims and not all either..
