i have the Ken version (two of them to be exact). wished i have the Ryu version but i can't complain since i got them from "Ross" for 6.95 each CIB.
Somehow that doesn't surprise me. Ross is known to sneak in tiny lots of mildly obscure gaming merchandise. I've had some interesting finds over the years, though usually my searches bring up duds.

Just picked up KoF: 98 UM PS2 from Amazon.com.
I'm looking forward to playing and joining in the discussion this month. It will also be the first time I'll be participating in Together Retro. :)

they're very common on eBay, etc for under $20 shipped.
Heh I like that picture of Chun Li...

But in all seriousness it looks like a great controller. I have the version for Dreamcast and the games on MacMAME, so I think I will join in on the fun this time! I never really got into KOF series (I prefer to suck at Capcom and Arc System games) so maybe this is the chance I need to start getting into SNK fighters. I think my main problem is I don't recognize and lack of familiarity with any of the characters. Its also why I usually never play as anyone from Marvel in Marvel Vs. Capcom.

I have this on orochi saga, but i would really like to have the ps2 ultiamte match version as well.

No such thing as too much KOF.

I did just order KOF evolution for Dreamcast a well.

I thought about ultiamte match for xbox live, but the d-pad is so bad for it, just like mark of the wolves.

I pull a version of KOF98 out all the time. Usually, it's the Dreamcast version since that console will never be unhooked from my TV until I die. My staple team is Mai, Terry, and Iori.

When this game came out, I was actually disappointed. KOF97 had that whole TV Broadcast theme going with the network logos and ambient sounds replacing [most] stage music tracks. That was so cool to me that I was taken aback when KOF98 went back to the standard presentation. (My love of KOF97s' presentation was revisited when Capcom vs SNK 1 came out with a similar theme).

So I just played this for the first time (ever?) and can see myself enjoying it. Is the AI supposed to be tough or easy? I know SNK games are usually tough, but twice in a row within the first hour I made it to (what I assume) is the last boss without continuing, and then just barely lost to him. This was with button mashing - I am sure once I lean some of the characters it will be even easier :) Am I naturally gifted, or is KOF '98 easier than some other SNK titles (Samurai Showdown series, Fatal Fury, etc.)?
