Donkey Kongs

Post by Dude »

I've read several reviews now and get the sense in terms of playability the original Donkey Kong (GB) is better than most of the newer versions? I haven't heard anything bad about the DK Countrys yet, but I have my doubts about some of the others.

What is your overall impression of the series and recommendations? (Gameboys and other systems too.)

Thanks

The original on the gb is VERY good. Dk Country 1-3 on the snes are fantastic and deserve your attention. I would also suggest playing the DK land games (yellow carts). I loved playing those growing up.

I loved DKC for the SNES (still have the original one I bought, in fact) and I am loving the new DKC Returns for the Wii.

Donkey Kong on Game Boy is one of my favorite platformers ever. I do like the original DKC a lot too but I feel that it is more due to nostalgia and not great gameplay. I've played DKC2 as well but I just can't seem to get into it.

I never really played much Gameboy (other than Mario and Tetris), is this worth emulating?

Definitely. The platforming in that game is nothing short of brilliant. IMO its better than Super Mario Land 2.

How does Mario Vs. Donkey Kong for GBA stand up? I heard good things about it when it came out, but haven't played it.
