One of my friends recommended Animals as Leaders to me. He has since become my new best friend. :D

I haven't listened to Arsis.
Animals as Leaders puts on one of the best live sets around. Navene Koperweis is a beast of a drummer. I knew him from his days in Animosity. If you enjoy this style look up Periphery, and you will thank me

Arsis has been around for a long time but it is basically one musician. Jim Malone is one of the last true death metal guitarists left. If you enjoy really technical playing then you will love them.

Is it like Dream Theater's live shows where they have seizure inducing strobe lights? :D

I've heard of them, but I haven't heard their music.

Considering how many notable 80s and 90s death metal bands are still around, still releasing albums, and still performing shows, I gotta question this statement.

I was referring to the music scene today regarding new material. Death metal is sadly dying.

You're right. Most of the styles of Death Metal are being turned into easily digestible horseshit. *cough*Deathcore*cough*cough*Modern Melodic Death Metal*COUGH*

Oh, cool. Small venues are always the best shows.

I'm a bit of an audiohead so large venues with a bad mix always get under my skin.
