The forums at originaltrilogy.com should be able to give you some info, though you gotta jump though some hoops there to actually GET the edits. I just kinda searched around there until I found some. There's a LOT of different edits out there, I just watched the well known and highly recommended ones (The Phantom Edit and Attack of the Phantom, and an edit of Revenge of the Sith by a guy named Stankpac I think).

They don't turn them magically into great movies or anything, but they cut out a lot of the unnecessary and downright bad fluff. It makes them at least pretty decent and watchable movies, which given how bad the source was is quite a feat in its own imo.

If you do poke around there, I do want to highly recommend Adywan's Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Revisited. It's basically an extensive retooling of the "special edition" of the first film of the original trilogy, doing lots of color correction, fixing up mistakes in the new special effects, trimming out the crap that pissed people off (no more Jabba scene and no more Greedo shooting first), making the overall story and pacing more in line with the original theatrical cut, fixing up the lightsaber effects, and adding lots of new touches of his own. It really is fantastic, incredibly professional quality, and everything the "special edition" should've been.

I had contemplated doing an edit of Batman Forever. Tossing in the original opening, eliminating most of the stuff with that annoying security guard, and. . . removing the nipples.

I can't believe Phantom Menace even received votes!

I love Return of The Jedi. It just wrapped everything up perfectly, I like how Luke developes into a mature Jedi and does not make the same unfortunate mistake that claimed his father. It's very basic but that's the major portion as to why it's my favorite.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Well, if you were born after the original trilogy came out, it would have been the first one you saw in the theaters, which gives it a nostalgia bonus. However, I pick Empire Strikes Back.

I saw Avatar, Snow Falling on Cedars, and freaking Pearl Harbor in theaters. Unless you've never been to a theater before, that is no excuse.

Can't go wrong with the OT at all, but I went with RoTJ. I think I like ESB overall a bit more, but the concluding battle and everything at the end of RoTJ is just too insanely epic, best stuff ever.

I can't grasp how anyone can think that Attack of the Clones was not the worst movie of the series by far. It had that annoying kid and that moron talking about how much they love each other for half the film! It's a good thing George Lucas is rich and can pay a translater because he writes like a retarded robot.

BTW, which version is the best?

Attack of the Clones is probably the worst "blockbuster" sci fi film I've ever seen.

What does that have to do with seeing a Star Wars movie in the theater for the first time? :?

I agree with this. Dear shit, the romance was fucking terrible. Even when I first saw it when I was twelve I knew it was bad.

Wait, which is the annoying kid and which is the moron?

My point was that the the theater experience shouldn't be enough to save an absolutely horrible film.
