Anytime an RPG series is mentioned, the Ys series is sorely unaccounted for... :(

If you have a PSP and you want to play something different from the Final Fantasy fare, and enjoy games like Zelda and Secret of Mana, then you can't go wrong with any of the Ys games for the PSP..

For portable RPGs, you can't go wrong with a GBA. Try Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, or that Tactics Ogre thingy if you can find it. Also, Golden Sun. And of course, the Pokemon games.

I'm playing FFTA now and I highly recommend it. If you want a more traditional RPG though I highly, highly suggest you play Golden Sun.

Same here - Got both special edition box-sets of the first two, and you can bet I'll be getting I & II's box-set the day it releases..

I'm particularly looking forward to this sets OST.. They're hyping it as the cornerstone to this collection and it's nice to see Falcom's in-house music team getting the respect and tribute that they deserve!

Also, is it me, or is I & II turning into Ys' answer to Final Fantasy IV???

Yea maybe, but either way I'm also getting the "hair metal" edition :)

For handheld RPGs, it doesn't get much better than the Golden Sun series. If you have a PS3, you might want to consider Tales of Graces F, a phenomenal Action RPG that is going to be announced soon, and that I will be plugging a lot here over the next couple months. :)

I never played Lunar or the Persona series, but I am considering to play these games. Crisis Core, is a maybe for me, mainly because I want to take a break from Final Fantasy for a moment, just to treasure the moment that I played the original and actually beat it and ended up liking it.
That said, what you would like focus on? Like one game per system, I mean there are plenty of great RPGs for handhelds; the GBA and DS has plenty to go around, or do you want to continue to focus on the PSP? Are you looking for the right balance between gameplay and storyline?

Currently all I have for handhelds is GBA and PSP, I picked PSP mainly because of the ability to download PSOne games. I would say a good balance between Gameplay and storyline, I like a little story but not too much to the point when it becomes boring. I mean I am sort of a RPG virgin (FFVII is the first RPG I have ever finished), I have not played allot of RPGs mainly because I did not have enough time until now.

I might play some Phantasy Star since I have a copy of The Genesis collection for the PSP.
