I was thinking about setting up a modding service on ebay, but I was wondering what a reasonable price was for fitting 50/60hz, JPN/ENG and an overclock?
Is £30 too much you think?
How much would you pay to get your MD modded?

You have to consider that the main obstacle to a fair priced service is shipping.
How much would it cost to me to get my console modded including those costs? It seems like it would be expensive even if the service itself is cheap.

All comes down to the shipping. £30 is a fair price but if people have to pay anothe £15 on top of that for shipping you cna forget it.
The difficulty you will have is that you make no money off the shipping, but the customer has to pay so they jsut add it to the cost. I myself have been looking for a region mod for most of my consoles for a while now but everywhere i look has decent prices £20+ but then charges shipping to make it actually cheaper to buy a console from a different region.
Personally i would say try to keep you total price to around £25-30 and you should do fine. However thats not as easy as it sounds and you'll have to do a fair bit of research into different postage methods and possibly bulk buy boxes.
Finally how good do your mods look? Are they all scratchy and clearly done in the kitchen, or do they look proffesional and well finished?

Well the only visible bits would be the switches, and I'm pretty anal about getting them all lined up and neat.
You are all right about the postage though, I'll weigh the MD when I get home and see how much 2 way shipping is going to be. The console itself isnt that heavy so it shouldnt be too bad. Good point about the boxes though, not thought of that. Most people would send it in a box in the first place, but then there are going to those that wrap it in brown paper and I just wouldnt be comfortable returning it in that.

Ok, I'm thinking that I list it at £22.50 with £5.24 postage. The £5.24 covers the return postage and the buyer will obviously have to send to me in the first place, so the total cost to the buyer is £32.98. I should have enough left over to buy the switches and the oscilator and make it worth my time.
Of course I'll offer Racketeers a discount too.
edit: got totally confused with how it was going to work with the postage. Fixed now though

Too bad the postal service isn't cheaper. Although, from what I've heard, even at the prices we pay, we're pretty well off compared to the postal services in other countries.

Yeah it really is the main problem with keeping the prices down. The US does have a very cheap postal service from what I've seen.
That postage price above is recorded delivery, but second class will be £4.41 so I reckon its worth another quid for the insurance thats offered.

I just bought a modded super famicom, and I payed a lot for postage from the UK to Greece. Although it could have been the place overcharging, but then again if I compare the P&P cost to Greek shipping rates, it seems about right (since everything in the UK just has to be more expensive than the rest of Europe)

Well it jsut wouldnt be right if we only had to pay the going rate. What else would me moan about
