Where is the best place (BESIDES EBAY) to buy used games?

Post by benf »

I'm kinda new to used games market and don't know where the online trading gets done. I think I remembering reading on gamesniped about some games auction website? Any good online stores that have good prices/selection?

I'm just trying to find some place BESIDES eBay to support with my purchases of older titles. Not looking for too terribly rare stuff, just replace 16-bit or PS1/DC games etc. I've bought and sold so many times over the years.

I'm sure you already know, but sometimes you'll find a Amazon seller selling their games at a good price. If a game you're looking for is foreign (or just didn't sell well in your country), try looking at a foreign Amazon. I found Grim Fandango there at a decent price (compared to the US Amazon.)

Stone Age Gamer is pretty good.
I bought some Neo Geo Pocket games from Classic Game Source. They also have an eBay store.
I haven't tried them, but NCSX often has cool stuff.
RisingStuff is closing down so they have %70 off of everything right now. Seems like a good place to get imports.

I second Stone Age Gamer, quality site and fast shipping.

I know you're mainly looking for online avenues to find retro games but you should check out these articles from Chris Kholer of wired.com.

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/tag/weekend-thrifting/

He writes about his experiences finding games at thrift stores and yard sales. I think a lot of his luck is because of living in San Francisco but still, his findings make you wonder what's out there even at your local Goodwill.

Welcome to the site too.

 I once found a boxed copy (though missing the darn instructions...) of Sid Mier's Pirates! for NES at goodwill.

Also thanks for the links guys, and thanks YoshiEgg for posting Gamegavel.

Trust me on this, go to gamedude.com. this is the website for my local gamestore, but they take mail orders. They have great prices. It's the only place in the world you can get Caltron 6-in-1 on NES for $16.

I still think your best option is to compare prices at the Big 3: ebay, half.com, and Amazon.
