Re: Sony announces PSP2
To be fair, DS SD cards have only gotten cheap the past 5-7 years. And they aren't exactly the same as cartridges, which were a lot more expensive than CDs. I love cartridges as well, but don't forget how a lot of games struggled when ported to the N64 due to the lack of space. Mind you most of that space was used for voice overs and FMVs, but it still meant that developers had limited space.

It kinda sucks how the PSP2 isn't backwards compatible with PSP hardware, but whatever. The use of SD-like cards as a game format is much more efficient than UMDs anyway as far as space, noise, and power consumption.

Wonder what if cartridges came out now where solid media is larger than disc media people can buy cheap usb sticks and memory cards.ZeroAX wrote:To be fair, DS SD cards have only gotten cheap the past 5-7 years. It be kind of cool to have cartridges again they could do graphics accelerators in the carts again like they did in carts to enhance games through special chips for music and graphics.

What I loved about cartridges, was the artwork on the game itself, and the fact that you could see it while the game was in the system (with the exception of the original NES).
Example (couldn't find a better picture):

Yeah the pictures on the cartridges never made me miss having box and instructions at the time and go me excited to play the game itself.ZeroAX wrote:What I loved about cartridges, was the artwork on the game itself, and the fact that you could see it while the game was in the system (with the exception of the original NES).

They gave me a real sense of what I was going to get in the game

Re: Sony announces PSP2
I like my Go but due to prices of games, only have a couple games for it. My iPhone has become my main source of gaming on the go. It's nice to have all your portable needs in one small device.
That said, if I were to get one, it would be a PSP2. I'm not a fan of the 3DS or 3D in general. Gives me a major headache and leaves me feeling disoriented.(Though the 3DS does it a little differently from my understanding)

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Sony announces PSP2
Well, as far as comparing the PSP2 to the 3DS, each system has amazing graphics, poor battery life, great games in the pipeline, and forces you to pay for games you already own (Although the 3DS does let you play DS games). Really, I'm kinda torn between which system I'm gonna buy. The only real difference is what silly gimmick you like better

I will be looking foreward to a GTA San Andreas or GTA 4 port on the PSP2. Also, a Metal Gear game as good as Peace Walker. And mabey we can look forward to some bluray quality movies for the PSP2, just as the PSP had DVD quality UMDs.

Re: Sony announces PSP2
Games I want to see on the NGP:
Fat Princess Portable 2 [We need more cake!]
Persona 4 Portable [Although it is suspected for the 3DS]
DJ Max Portable 4 [Problem, Ouendan?]
Tales of Vesperia Portable [Hey, a man can dream]
Valkyria Chronicles 4 [Or maybe 3 will get bumped up to an early NGP release]
Xenosaga Collection [You know you want it, too.]
Crush 2 [Could work really well with accelerometer/touchpad controls]
