While it's a shame that they destroyed them, I do love watching a good bit of carnage.

If you watch the whole video, you will see the reason why they destroyed them. They wanted the scene of destroyed arcade games for a commercial they were filming.

I don't agree with it though. Like you guys said, they should have given them away instead.

It hurts to know such a thing happens. What are they thinking? Couldn't they just sell them on the collector's market if they aren't making money?

If you look at the comments, you will see that they say that they have had no luck giving broken arcade machines away. If they're easily fixable, they do it themselves.

I still think it was a bad idea on their part, though. Destroying arcade machines is just a bad side to the business-- like putting shelter animals to sleep. But posting this video likely won't help their image. It is getting notice, though, so what do I know?

This reminds me of working a Blockbuster Video as a teenager. I was working there when they were switching over from VHS to DVD. They would literally have us break the VHSs in half then throw them away. We were supposed to break them because they said they didn't want people stealing them...SO WHAT! They were throwing them away, who cares if someone wanted them. And we would also get in trouble if we took them ourselves. However we had one day-shift manager that just told us to do it off camera so if you see something you want, nobody knows any better that you took it.

We did the same thing with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the first version with the "Hot Coffee" cheat. I took a copy for myself.

It is a bit of a shame even if they really feel they couldn't do anything to save them. Stripping out the ruined insides and making the cabs stable would of gained them some cash. People are always looking for a cab to restore and make into a MAME machine. I also doubt no parts were able to be saved for selling.

But that is how business is done sadly. The above comment reminds me of Gamestop too. I have a few friends who work in them and once merchandise or games get to a certain price point and don't sell they are all trashed.

That's stupid. They could've easily found some already trashed machines, or at least gutted the damn things first and sold them off on ebay.

Oh well, what can you do...
