Family Matters is the shit when it comes to live action 90's sitcoms, right up there with Fresh Prince and Becker.

Carl definitely made the show for me, by far the best character

Carl & Urkel make the show work for me. They're the proverbial Hall and Oats of the series, without one or the other the show would just suck and be boring like for the first few episodes of the first season pre-Urkel.

I noticed that when I rented the recently released dvds on netflix for the first season. That show progressed quite a long way.

Yeah, the first few episodes were bland boring generic stuff until Urkel popped on screen.

I watched it regularly and still love revisiting it from time to time.

I know you did but I had to change it because Family Matters was by far the better of the two
