I hope that when the show ends they answer all these things rather than leaving it open. That would be an enourmous cop out.

I agree that its best watched back to back, you dont forget all those details that become relevant later on and the side story episodes are less of a drag. I thought series 2 was the worse series for having loads of episodes that didnt advance the plot, just served to build on what we know of the characters.
totally agree! And hopefully they will cup the crap since they've lost (hehe) 3 or so weeks because of the strike.

And about Locke, you need characters that piss you off or it wouldn't be interesting. Not knowing what his agenda is makes you keep guessing. good stuff.

Based on this last episodes I see it as this:

Little gap just incase people would rather wait till they see the episode since they had to do valentines stuff and missed it - obviously I did not.

Since we know that Sayid gets off the island my thought is that the others take over the group. Ben has Sayid killing off those from the Dharma Initiative, while Abaddon represents the group and is trying to kill off the other survivors and/or the others. However the timetraveling element that is brought up not only by Faraday but by the video for The Orchid, while cheesy, may hold the key to everything. It is only a thirty minute or so delay, but daggum these plot devices, I should not be thinking so much about this, its only a tv show - and not even Dr Who.

And I still say the monster is a dinosaur.

I think what makes Lost so unique is it's unbelievably non-linear approach to storytelling. It's like taking apart a jigsaw puzzle, scattering the pieces everywhere, then trying to put it all together. The producers have described the show this way and I think I agree

I do agree that Sayid is killing to protect whoever is on the island. I can't see any other reason why he would. It's a pretty shocking turn for his character. It's implied that the girl who shot Sayid works for the same guy who visited Hurley in the mental hospital, and he seemed quite curious about whether or not there were any living Losties left on the island.

I have to point out a few things that caught my attention in this episode:
-"Oh great, the boat brought us another Sawyer", LOL.
-Damn you Hurley! You're suppossed to be the honest one. See! Locke is a corrupt influence.
-Why the hell does nothing EVER go according to plan with Sayid? He got ambushed by Locke to NO ONE'S surprise. Great rib from Ben about the bet. Speaking of which...
-I'm a little surprised that Sayid did not see through Hurley's lies. Did the writers forget that this is one of Sayid's strengths?
-Loved Jack's burn on Kate. I know it was meant as a joke, but it just illustrates one out of many reasons that I've never liked her.
-The physicist has always been the character I found most interesting among the four "Freighties". Look how quickly he's unravelling everything about the island.
-What the hell is up with Jacob's cabin? Does it move at will now? And if so, why? What's the connection between Hurley, Locke and Ben?
-Good to see Desmond back in the story. He's a fascinating character and it will be VERY interesting to see how he fits in with the time distortion thing once that chopper gets away from the island. I'm pretty sure that the writer's confirmed that Desmond DID go back in time last season.

I've always hated Kate. I hate how she tries to have her cake and eat it too with Jack and Sawyer, and I HATE that those two morons just except that. The woman can't decide what she wants and USES Sawyer so much that he openly talks about it now. I also hate that Kate STILL does not realize the wrongness of her MURDERING someone, even if he was an abusive drunk. Then there's how unreliable and reckless she often tends to be. Kate will always do things HER way, whether you like it or not.

Kate is EXTREMELY immature. Her raising a child does not bode well. Remember that psychic telling Claire that horrible things would happen if anyone else raised her baby?

I really would have preferred Juliet getting off the island. They could have killed off Kate and I wouldn't have cared. The differences between her and Kate are like night and day. If I was Jack, I'd go for the blonde. Why do guys always go for the annoying woman?

That enough Desmond for you Gamerforlife? I think he was pretty crucial in the explanation. However the thought now is, is Faraday in having a relapse onto the island? I think he is, based on that last image, however you can never be dead sure with this show. Also one of those pages in his notebook looks like the hatch map (or atleast it did in the split second I saw it). Ill look into a frame by frame as soon as the episode is posted online.

so I've watched lost on and off since the beginning. not often enough to understand all this random stuff going on or whatever.

it struck me like a load of bricks last night... the shows nothing more than a very crappy remake of The Prisoner... even if they havent made that obvious yet.

Not a 100% sure of this, but I think Damon and Carlton once expressed an appreciation for that show, so I don't think they're ripping it off or anything like that. I think Lost is shaping up into something bigger. I mean The Prisoner was only like 17 episodes. I don't think one can call the show a "crappy remake" when they've only watched it on and off again without even keeping up with its mythology.

I've become quite fond of Desmond's character, and his episodes never seem to disappoint. I'm not ashamed to say that I found the scene between him and Penny in the communications room quite touching. And can I just say how awesome it is to see Sayid getting things done. I always felt like the writers had this awesome character but had to limit how much they do with him because a guy as smart and badass as him would just take the spotlight off guys like Saywer, Jack and Locke. Let's not forget that Sayid would have put a bullet in Ben's head long before his rivalries with Jack and Locke began. It was Ana Lucia who stopped Sayid. When people talk about what an awesome manipulator and evil genius Ben is I think, "Yeah, and Sayid saw through all of his crap right from the get go". This is why I (and apparently Ben himself)was surprised to see him fall for Hurley's little con. I guess it says a lot for how much people trust Hurley. Too bad Ben eventually gets control of Sayid in the future(based on the flash forward we saw)

I was shocked about Daniel's secret at the end. Has he been time shifting without the audience knowing? That just boggles the mind. It would explain why he seems so incredibly awkward and strange all the time. I believe though that he has somehow gained control over this ability, but has Desmond as a a back-up plan it anything goes wrong. And of course, I'm probably completely wrong.

I made the Prisoner connection after the monster was fully introduced. I view it less of a crappy remake and more of a remake for a modern audience. I enjoy both, but Lost keeps me going with wild conspiracy theory. That and at work everyone talks about Lost or The Biggest Loser, lesser of two evils huh? Granted I started watching SG-1 and One Piece again.

I believe Faraday holds many of the answer we are looking for, including what the monster is. However I have no basis for this other than my own meandering thoughts.

Oh man, I forgot about that -- I need a refresher of the old stuff.

I really enjoyed that stuff, but the 1997 Faraday stuff reminded me so much of the Marty/Doc Brown stuff in the second 1955 part of Back to the Future.
I was waiting for Faraday to say "Great Scott!"
