SNES S-Video cable

So I just got a Sony XBR4 LCD and I decided to plug my SNES to it via the S-Video Cable. The picture comes up sharp EXCEPT that "diagonal lines" run through the image which is a HUGE distraction. If I connect the SNES via composite cables the picture is fine but not as sharp. Any idea as why I can't run this off the S-Video cable? I should be able to, correct? Does anyone know if I can get component cables for the SNES? I know that that the SNES does have RGB output so in theory component cables would work. I'm stumped with the S-Video cable!!!! I have tried different settings/scenarios on the LCD itself to no avail. Someone out there.....please advise!

These older consoles always look rubish on LCD TV's. That's why I still have an old crt for 32 bit and older consoles. As far as comp out on snes, well sorry never seen it before.

Try to find some more old consoles to try on it. Or even N64 or GC to see if maybe it is a cable issue.

try to buy ngc component cables.

Component only works on the Cube. It uses a different port.

That's the problem that the S Video cable produces "diagonal lines". Otherwise the picture would be awesome! There has to be a way around this?! On another note, I have a joytech component switch box. When I run the S Video through the switch box I get no picture whatsoever only audio. Why would this be? Somehow the video is "lost in translation" via the S-Video cable. This just doesn't make any sense.
