why did you originally join racketboy?
Re: why did you originally join racketboy?
I've never used the the BST forum, mainly because I most of the sales are in the US and since I'm not in the market for the really expensive games, I can get the cheap games cheaper from the UK.
Plus the games probably wont work on my PAL hardware

Re: why did you originally join racketboy?
I found the site by finding it through a search for rarest games and found the Most Valuable games. Decided to join for no particular reason other than to actually be on a forum. I'd been bouncing around for a few months before then, but I think I've cemented my feet to the ground here.

I should have noted this for myself as well. This site has a strong ratio for google searches.hashiriya1 wrote:Everytime I would do research on an old game, google always brought me here....so I just joined.
Re: why did you originally join racketboy?
The Hidden Gems articles first reeled me into Racketboy. I joined when there were comments about Retro Lightguns not working on HDs and LCDs. Always liked the CRT compared to the LCD, the reason for my Avatar name. Wrote the CRT vs LCD guide at my signature link five days after joining.
A work in progress, I keep adding to it, currently at 384 Edits.

I came from the Sega Extreme forums and saw Racketboy open up this site I didn't really think too much of it and at first I didn't join the forums I just kept browsing the articles and forums and as the articles and forums provoked a response I decided to sign up a login

I initially though it was a gay man's dating website when I kept seeing pictures of "Ballz". Turns out it was a retro gaming site and I still haven't gotten a date.

No. You joined to participate in together retro for the secret of monkey island.Limewater wrote:I joined to impress a girl.
Which gives me an idea for a topic.Greetings,
I've never posted here before, and likely won't be posting a whole lot, but I do want to participate in this round of together retro, being a big fan of all of the old LucasArts graphic adventures.
I thought I would throw a couple of things out for discussion.
1) I believe that Monkey Island 2 is the best of the series. The art and animation are stepped up a bit from the first, and I think it's the funniest of the four. The island(s) also feel a lot less desolate than the first. I also did not care much for the change in art style for the last two games, though they are still great.
2) One thing that has always bothered me a little about The Secret of Monkey Island is the close-up art. An example of this early in the game is the bar scene. When you speak with people, the view often switches to a close-up of the drunk with whom you are speaking. This was not really maintained for the rest of the game except for a few key moments, which is a little odd. Also, the art style for the close-up shots, while very nice, seems to contrast strongly with the general art style of the rest of the game.
Why do you think they did this? Was art prepared but they just ran out of disk space? Was it meant as a teaser so that people who only saw the beginning would believe that the rest of the game was similarly detailed?

Maybe the girl was stuck in Monkey Island and he wanted to impress her by making it past the impasse.Jrecee wrote:No. You joined to participate in together retro for the secret of monkey island.Limewater wrote:I joined to impress a girl.
