Alright, thank you. I'll swing by a hardware store soon and pick something up. I'll post my progress with this thing and hopefully some good news.

White lithium grease will work on the gears and on the rod. If you can't find that at the hardware store, perhaps a hobby shop that sells RC cars since they would have it for the RC gearing.Opa Opa wrote:Alright, thank you. Thank you. Is that grease...well... dangerous? What I mean is would it eat away at my hands (or worse) if I worked with it or would I need gloves? Although, I'd probably wear gloves anyway but I'd still like to know just in case.Hobie-wan wrote:White lithium grease will work on the gears and on the rod. Edit: My question does sound kinda silly but you should never take anything like chemicals/pastes/etc. lightly.

Lithium grease is safe for you and plastic gears. It will not cause your hair to fall out, your skin to turn blue, nor will you start having naughty thoughts about immediate family members.

Okay... Lubricated the gears and track. It booted up Lunar after a few tries of getting it to load. It froze at the intro. After about 8 more tries it wouldn't load it again.
I have determined that this particular unit is too old to handle games on the magnitude of Lunar. However, it is still useful to play FMV games.
Thank you everyone for your help.

yeah, sounds like the cd-rom is just worn the fuck out. Get what life you can out of it before you must bid it fairwell.

It plays anything provided it isn't as complex as Lunar. And I actually like fmv games so its all good.final fight cd wrote:this is truly a sad day. your sega cd is running its last leg and it only plays FMV.
