If it weren't for the PsP Go.. You could make the case that the PSP would have sold more worldwide.. I think the Go lagged the sales a bit because of the negative reception..ZeroAX wrote: I loved the PSP Go design. Most people actually did. The problem was how expensive the games were compared to stores, and how only a fraction of the PSP's library was released on PSN. Plus no UMD to PSN option for people who already owned a PSP.

I have to say I liked the PSP design a lot more. The NGP (I hope to God they change that) just doesn't look as sharp as its predecessor. While the direction Sony is taking the PSP brand isn't for me it looks like it'll please people looking for a console-like experience in their handhelds. As with the original PSP it reminds me a lot of the Game Gear. Overall I'm not too impressed but I'm not the type of person they trying to sell one to.

Re: Sony announces PSP2
The quicker this comes out the better imo. It might make the original PSP prices go down to what I feel I can justify to spend on one.
Anyway, this doesn't look too interesting to me, but neither did the original PSP, and now theres a whole host of games I want to play on it. Most of these flashy new features don't appeal to me, and I imagine it's gonna be costly. I do want to know more about this touch pad though, it's on the back? How does that work?
Anyhow, this is pretty much going to be a console I hold back and wait for, I'll probably do the same as the original PSP and get round to buying it when the next sony handheld comes out and it's a lot cheaper. I couldn't afford this if I wanted to either, especially seeing as I'm already going to buy a 3DS.
The other thing that worries me is that if it's a lot like a PS3, it might not have a very diverse library. Whilst I'm not saying the PS3 doesn't have a good library of games, it does seem like a large quantity of them aren't my kind of game. It also seems like a lot of them would make for lousy portable games - taking too long to beat levels, having to find places to save etc.
tl;dr: looks interesting, I'll keep my eye on it, but I can't imagine it taking any more of Nintendo's slice of the market than the original did.

Maybe I'm underselling this. Will the rear touch pad be a cool improvement? Interested to find out more, although it doesn't sound like a big deal so far.alienjesus wrote:... I do want to know more about this touch pad though, it's on the back? How does that work? ...
Re: Sony announces PSP2
Is anyone else getting the feeling that Nintendo and to a lesser extent Sony are trying to cater to the "core" more with their portables and making their consoles more family oriented. I'm not sure how I feel about that, and both the 3DS and NGP will probably cost more than I care to pay for a few years.
Re: Sony announces PSP2
Well when this thing comes out I'll probably be picking up my first PSP. That is the 1000 or 2000 model. Guess I'm about 7 years behind.
I know those launch games are all Sony's "go to" IPs but I sure would've liked to have seen something new on the list.

Re: Sony announces PSP2
It's possible that Sony will introduce a UMD add-on to allow people with existing UMDs to play them on the NGP.
I think if Sony was more aggressive with their pricing in the store, I believe more people will embrace the download only media concept. Witness the success of Steam and other platforms.

Re: Sony announces PSP2
Maybe once the PSP2 comes out Sony will stop adding constant security patches to the PSP and we'll be able to use the later models of the original PSP to their full extent.
EDIT:
EDIT:
You still have a large group of people (some on this forum) who hate digital downloads in every way, shape and form and think companies will hold their games hostage or some shit.I think if Sony was more aggressive with their pricing in the store, I believe more people will embrace the download only media concept.
