Who's ready for serial keys on the PS3!
Who's ready for serial keys on the PS3!
At least thats the latest unconfirmed report. http://kotaku.com/5744389/sony-starts-r ... ty-updates What a piss poor way to fight back at the recent Geohot 'or whatever his name is' exploit. I'm no expert PC gaming pirate or nothing, but don't these get easily cracked on the PC in a matter of days of the games release by pirates anyways? What a way to punish legit customers if this goes through. Man, I really must say that I'm really getting sick of all this pirate crap lately. It just seems in the end, the paying customer always ends up getting bent over the barrel, not the thief.

Yeah Sony, better watch your back. Piracy sure did quite a number on the Wii, that's why it's in last place right now.
...oh wait...

Re: Who's ready for serial keys on the PS3!
It's complete bullshit.
Until recently the PS3 was the only impenetrable console. There were no pirate games on it for years. The Xbox 360 and the Wii were hacked within months.
I'd like to see comparative numbers of sales between platforms. Did PS3 games pre-piracy fare better than 360 or even Wii games at sales?
I highly doubt it. In fact, most charts show that multiplatform games usually sell better on the 360, and the install bases are not significantly higher for it. In fact, the only multiplatform game I recall seeing sell better on the PS3 was Final Fantasy XIII.
Yet, I see articles about the relevance of piracy every fucking day. The fact that the almighty and hack-proof PS3 is still last this generation doesn't even cross anyone's minds.
And, even stipulating that sales don't equal revenue or profit, I really really doubt that the PS3 is the leading platform in lucrativeness. That or the fact that the 360 is the lead platform for most multi-plat games is really a mistery.

Retro gaming is looking better and better everyday.

Oh dear... If that's true they've effectively killed second hand trade. That will go down well with PS3 owners...

This is why everyone is pissed at Sony. They can't do the little things then screw up terribly on the big things.
Man, they should wish it was ten years ago when, you know, people liked them and bought their system.

Man, everybody sure is pissed about unconfirmed reports.
I highly doubt this will ever go through. It seems like an unholy waste of time for something that will be cracked as soon as it gets rolled out.

This is like two weeks late... Another kotaku article fucking being released when this was well known.. And it's only a rumor.. Although, I think this would blow if it was actually implemented..
