And I was told Apple designed products that were easy for the end user to use...
Re: iPhone 4, iTunes 10, and Mac OS Leopard
To be fair, this is the first issue I have EVER had with Apple or their products after about 5 years of using them. When I used a PC I had an issue like every other month. I was required to become pretty savvy, constantly trying to uncover workarounds to keep the system running smoothly. Anytime I installed a new program I had to do a search for all the crap that came with it since Windows loved to break programs apart and create folders in 30-40 different places. My system would usually get so bogged down that I would have to do a system restore a couple times a year to get rid of the garbage. Even with that, I still ended up finding stupid aol files periodically even though I hadn't used aol in over a decade.lordofduct wrote:And I was told Apple designed products that were easy for the end user to use...
No regrets about switching to Mac. If something tries to install itself, I am asked if I want it to (I know Windows does this now too, but my experience with Vista on my parent's computer was not a happy one). If I install something on my computer and decide I want it gone, I drag it from the applications folder to the trash can - gone, uninstalled along with all the files that came with it. And the constant annoyance of viruses, adware, and spyware was overwhelming on my PC. I know I know, Mac is becoming so popular that there are going to be these issues for Mac users any day now... I have been hearing that since I started using a Mac and have still never had a single virus or any issues with adware and spyware.
I may not know as much about computers anymore, but it's because I haven't had to. This was the first time I ever had to call Apple support and the issue was solved pretty quickly.
NIODE: A little research could have helped, but this is the beauty of the impulse buy. I acknowledge my own fault in the situation and am annoyed at the failure of the Apple store employee and tech support guy who misled me. I had never had an issue before and thought I would not have an issue then. I will be more pessimistic towards humanity from now on, I promise
The entire situation was very frustrating, but now that my Mac is pretty up-to-date and running fast and smooth (even if I had to pay more than I should have) I might get a couple more years without an issue. We plan to get a new computer eventually, meaning 1 issue in the entire lifespan of our crappy, low-end, no frills Macbook.
That's my Mac sales-pitch:). And I didn't want to get into the PC vs. Mac debate again...
