Re: Your Personal Least-favourite consoles
The Saturn is probably my least played console that I own, and it only has a few really good games on it.
Re: Your Personal Least-favourite consoles
you need a chip or 4-in-1 and a healthy selection of imports. My import collection recently surpassed my US collection, and the best NTSC-J games are far superior to the best US releases. Of course, if you aren't a big fan of arcade games (fighters and shmups), you may disagree.futuramaguy42 wrote:The Saturn is probably my least played console that I own, and it only has a few really good games on it.
Re: Your Personal Least-favourite consoles
So what you're saying is that a large proportion of the 3DO's library is good enough that there was demand for ports on later, more powerful systems. That sounds like a compliment.dsheinem wrote:Now remove the games that aren't exclusives (usually with better ports elsewhere). What's left?
And back on topic, count me in with those who can't hate a console. Shitty consoles have character. Did you know the CD-i runs a slightly modified version of Microware's OS-9 RTOS? You can even get a shell. The Mattel Hyperscan was total flop. Few games exist and they're no fun to play. But come on, RFID enabled card/video games, that's neat! It did fail for a reason, and I'll probably never play with mine again, but that doesn't mean I hate it.

Nintendo 64, I've already ranted about it, and I don't feel like repeating myself.

Re: Your Personal Least-favourite consoles
I like the Master System guys points, I never had a NES so missed out on some history but I loved my SMS! I'm 24 so the early 90s were effectively decided game-wise by my dad, who had a Mega Drive. The beautiful thing about games is you make friends by which console you have, as I made friends at school (who I still am friends with) due to our mutual love of Streets of Rage. Then it seemed everybody got a Playstation, other than a few guys at school who had N64s, and after playing Mario Kart and Goldeneye I joined them. For like 3 years we convened every weekend for N64 sessions, whilst everybody else played their Playstations (funnily enough I didn't know anybody with a Saturn). Therefore I only have some hate for Sony, particularly as I then bought a Dreamcast in Xmas 2000 for Shenmue, whilst everybody else waited for the PS2, even the guys with N64s. This wound me up as games like Power Stone and Virtua Tennis I would constantly ruin my friends at, rather than the balanced games I'd have on the previous consoles. Therefore I hate the Playstation, I also found and still do find that the PS games lacked a soul. It's hard to put my finger on it, but I never connected with a game like I did on my N64 or Dreamcast. I did spend a lot of time playing Fighting Force with mates though, at the time it felt like Streets of Rage 4, but looking back it was pretty shocking.
But yeah, other than always being in the minority with my consoles : SMS, Mega Drive (although I think this was more popular than the SNES round my way), N64, Dreamcast. This probably explains why I have owned all the consoles other than a PS3 since. I kinda miss the days of swearing your allegiance to one console, getting the magazine monthly and planning all nighter tournaments. Growing up sucks.

Re: Your Personal Least-favourite consoles
I would have to say the console I hate the most is 32x, other consoles that I didn't really play too much are Genesis, Dreamcast, and N-Gage.
NGPC is alright, but it kinda pales in comparison to the GBA, so meh.

The Dreamcast 2..
It's the only system I can think of that lacks 1st AND 3rd party support..
