King of fighters XII (ps3)

I really don't like how it has a small roster and want to know if you can unlock more. Also, I played online and won with Kyo, Athena, and Iori.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the Dreamcast.

I spent half my high school career addicted to the PSX port and bought this version mostly for shits and giggles, not expecting it to have anything left to offer me. It has sat on my shelf for months.

WOW was I wrong. The world tour mode is 10x better! This has to be THE definitive version.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Really?? What are the differences between the PS1 and DC versions?

I just got Fighting Vipers 2 and Tech Romancer. If you haven't played them, you are definitely missing out. I'm still waiting for Power Stone 1 and 2 to come by mail.

The differences are few and far between when you first boot up the game and that is part of the reason it languished on my shelf for so long. When you get a few battles into World Tour mode you start to notice some MAJOR changes.

First of all, your character has an I-ism that represents whatever ism you are trying to train in. It's mostly an aesthetic effect but I like it.

The big difference is that the battle line up is entirely different (after you whip Dan's ass) and the game makes great use of the Dreamcast's beefier hardware but setting up a ton of Dramatic and Reverse Dramatic fights using a variety of characters instead of the few that the Playstation was able to handle. For instance, I had to team up with T. Hawk last night to fight Birdie. I do not remember doing that in the PSX version.

I'll list more significant changes as I get to them. So far the only thing that bothers me is that Guile and all the other world tour unlockables are already available to you when you first start. I liked the challenge of getting those in the PSX version of World Tour.

Haha, I remember all those Dramatic Battles. The Saturn version was very similar in that respect.

Still playing Mark of the Wolves. Playing those few rounds against some human opponents at the CTX meetup really taught me a lot. I'm still trying to learn Rock. He feels very unconventional but satisfying when you start to put his tools to good use. Maybe Geese was similar but I never used him back in the KOF days.

I may move on to Gato and then Rodriguez . I used Rodriguez (Butt) against someone during the meet up and I like how he is straight up, overwhelming rush down. He feels like a more violent version of Ken but without the "flowchart" tactics. His specials seem to take a backseat to his normals.

No, there's no unlockables, although Mature and Elizabeth are two characters who are exclusive to the console versions.

KOFXIII does have some form of unlockables, though - with characters like Mr. Karate and Big Bear showing up as unlockable costumes for Takuma and Raiden. Too bad KOFXIII may never get a console release...

I just had a "get together" with some friends, and managed to get them to play Dark Awake. We had a pretty good time with it, too - I hope we'll play it again at some point. Spent most the time playing SSF4 though... meh.

Apparently, they played Third Strike after I left. Bastards.

who was it that really wanted me to play Street Fighter III: Third Strike? I'm finally playing it, and loving it, and amazed at how challenging it is.
