"Drag and Drop" Game Development Software?
Re: "Drag and Drop" Game Development Software?
A friend of mine was able to pull off quite decent beat-'em-ups and action games with RPG Maker. One time I challenged him to make a fighting game with it and he did. It wasn't stellar but was something. It's a shame he never really finishes off his projects.

Re: "Drag and Drop" Game Development Software?
ooh! exciting thread. i've played around with game maker before... made a couple of the tutorial games, messed around with the mechanics and made some tests, made a "jump the circle around the maze-like room and touch cubes to save them from their cubeness and then they fly away" game... then i made a side scroller of sorts called "ninja runner" cuz it's a clever name
and it was all about butchering twitchy stick figure creeps with sword slashes and an oversized shuriken... it was pretty cool for what it was, but the last 6 hours of work i did on it wasn't saved properly and i got pretty pissed off so i haven't touched it in a couple years... plus life, but whatever... i'm gonna try out games factory right now!
by the way, any luck onemanfilmcrew?

http://www.romhacking.net/ has tons of romhacking software and editing tools. Its amazing what some people do with these easy to use tools. They've turned games most have played 100s of times into something completely new. Of course, there always Little Big Planet 2. Doesn't get more drag in drop than that.
Re: "Drag and Drop" Game Development Software?
There are several out there. I "mouse" created a game with an older game creator called Klik and Play.onemanfilmcrew wrote:OK, I'm curious, is there any sort of drag and drop game development software out there? I have exactly ZERO programming ability, so I was wondering if there was something out there where you can drag and drop elements and use "real" descriptions instead of code (for example: instead of ten lines of code to trigger a dialog scene, you can click on a square and say "begin segment").

I read recently that Platinum Arts 3D Sandbox is the cool new thing for making your own games. I haven't used it yet, but it looks like it would be powerful and reasonably user friendly.

man I used to love RPG Maker for PS1. I should try to hunt down another copy. That thing was fun.
