Silent Hill - multiple endings

Post by env963 »

Anyone here annoyed with multiple endings on this game? If I play 8 - 10 hours through and find out I got the "bad" ending that just annoys me! I loved the first silent hill on the PSX and i like the 2nd one on the PS2, the 3rd was okay and the 4th i thought stunk. Now im kind of burned out of silent hill... but back to my point, I was reading up on this wiki page about silent hill and I always heard this game had multiple endings and after reading about them Im just annoyed with that! LOL Anyone else with comments?

Multiple Endings = Replay Value

I don't see how that can possibly be a bad thing.

...'cept for maybe in Homecoming where you can get the joke ending on your first playthrough

I've never cared about multiple endings. If more than one ending exists a game, then whatever. When I get to the end I just figure, well this is the route I took, and this is the ending I got. I then move on to another game. I'd never think Oh No! That's the BAD ending! I better put another 30 hours into this one to get the GOOD ending!

Well replaying the Silent Hill games is hardly a 30 hour investment. It's possible to beat most horror games in ~6 hours or less. I've (re)beaten them in one sitting several times.

yeah I was just generalizing... like in an RPG or something. But even if it were a 6 hr game, I wouldn't be motivated to just start it over again based on which ending I got. Y'know?

Yeah, same here really. It is nifty when you do replay a game though to have something a little different come out of it.

luckily, YouTube has rendered the need to replay a game to see alternative endings moot.

isn't that the truth! I have watched endings to games that I haven't had any desire to acuatlly finish or play. :D

What I find really funny is that it's usually pretty hard to get the truly bad endings in these games. I tend to get the good or mediocre endings when I play them through. Later runs always go faster, and in many of these there are a good number of secrets to find, some of which won't open up until later playthroughs. For instance, how many of you got the silver pipe in Silent Hill 3? Or unlocked the Sexy Beam?

They're also very short. I used to speed run Silent Hill 3 in roughly an hour and a half.

I actually just finished sh2 again last night. I got an ending I never achieved before. Pretty cool... I took my time on this playthrough and it took me about 5 hours and 20 minutes. Of course you can shave off some time for the cut scenes.

I love these games and more endings just gives me another reason to keep on playing.
