I've seen Troll 2 many times, and held a Troll 2 party this last year, grandpa.Arbitern1 wrote:I held a Troll 2 party this weekend. It was amazing! Anyone else ever been blessed by this amazing movie? It is literally the lowest rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes ever. If you have not seen this movie please check it out or look it up.
It features amazing acting like this

Neither do I. That's why I don't go to see them in the theaters. 99% of the time the original is better. And if it's really crappy it'll end up on cable in a couple of months anyway so why waste the money.noiseredux wrote:species is pretty good. I have nothing else to say really.
Let The Right One In is amazing. And I see no point in a remake.
I know a lot of people liked the remakes of Halloween and Friday the 13th, but when I finally watched the remake of Halloween on tv I wasn't terribly impressed. And I'm still not sure what they were trying to do with Friday the 13th. I've been told by some that it was a remake and by others that it was a sequel. I'm dubbing it a re-quel since it makes reference to Jason's past deeds (And I was told, his mothers actions in the first film. But didn't see it. So don't know.). I may or may not watch it if I come across it on tv.
But I'm making it a point to NEVER watch the Nightmare On Elm Street remake when it inevitably shows up (my guess is on FX). As soon as I heard Robert Englund wasn't in it, my brain shut off. That's nothing against Jackie Earle Haley, but it's just not the same once you've gotten used to a certain actor after 8 films. Of course I was doubly vindicated when the movie ended up being awful, but I thought my initial reason was just a valid.

Believe it or not, I've never seen MST3K. I've been wanting to get into the series for along time, but the DVDs are too much. I understand that they're a good value, but I don't spend over $20 on DVDs/Blus.Michi wrote:My mom also picked me up set 8 of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Remember when SciFi was worth a shit?I used to love watching them make fun of bad horror when it still played on the SciFi channel.

You can't go wrong with any movie that has Roscoe P. Coltrane as the hero.Michi wrote:The only "horror" movie on it is The Killer Shrews, but I'm really looking forward to popping that into the DVD player when I have the time. Re: Horror Movies
The only real connection of F13th pt.5 to pt.6 is the conversation in the begining of the film with Tommy Jarvis and his friend from the institution (I think Hawes is name?) when they're driving to the cemetary to dig up Jason. I believe they escaped from the institution and Hawes is panicing that when the institution finds out about this. Other than that they pretty much ignored everything else that happened in pt.5. I love F13th, I have the two books about the entire franchise, all the films, and TONS of collectibles (figures, comics, etc). Borderline obsessed actually!
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

It does sound like that actually. I don't really care either but for some reason I just felt the need to say the name. Besides, I'm just a nerd with this franchise anyways!!noiseredux wrote:same here. That coffee table book is amazing. Actually my wife and I met at a bookstore discussing F13!
Nice!! I met my wife while we were both working at a bookstore. Scary coincidence on that one! I love that book actually. Does yours cut off and have some type-o's at the end?

Re: Horror Movies
We really don't either, but since our FYE is closing all the new DVD/Blus were 60% off so that put the set right in the ball park. I'll agree that the DVD's are ridiculously expensive for a series. It's the first time we've found them that cheap so Mom didn't mind paying a little extra.GSZX1337 wrote:Believe it or not, I've never seen MST3K. Yes. Now it's all they seem to play.GSZX1337 wrote:Remember when SciFi was worth a shit?
Re: Horror Movies
Having recently read up on SciFi, apparently the channel's creator never liked science fiction to begin with, so I grow less and less enthused with it as time goes by. There were definitely high points, but I don't bother with it anymore.Michi wrote:Yes. Anyway, since we're bashing remakes here, which film would you say is your favorite: The Thing From Another World, or John Carpenter's The Thing?
I also watched M. Night Shyamalan's Devil two days ago...I'm done. I never want to watch another one of his movies ever again. The whole thing felt forced, and Shyamalan's twist crap is so ingrained that I felt I'd seen this before. On top of it, the plot and dialogue were just terrible. If Shyamalan wants to save himself, he needs to do something radically different all of a sudden. He needs to direct a romantic comedy. That'll throw everyone for a loop. But in the meantime this movie taught me that dropping a piece of buttered toast constitutes a test to determine whether Satan is nearby.

there's plenty of good remakes out there.
The Thing
The Fly
The Blob
The Fog
now on to ones with even more syllables!
My Bloody Valentine
Black Xmas
Halloween (I already went over this)
Friday The 13 (same)
just off the top of my head. Sure I hate the idea of taking the easy way out and just remaking something that was great and butchering it. We've seen that many, many times. But that's not to say that there's no good ones.
