I'm tempted to pick up a 32x with some games just to see what I missed out on.

It would have been interesting to see how things would have worked out had Sega followed through with a Neptune (Genesis+32x) with CD system, continued Genesis game support (for use on the Neptune system as well) for a couple more years (like Nintendo did with the SNES after the N64 came out) and delayed or axed the Saturn.

While the Saturn's a good system, I hear it was a pain to develop for, because the architecture was a mess, and made developers less enthusiastic to produce games on.

Not all composite signals are created equally. The composite out on the 32X is slightly better than most model Genesis. Any little bit helps.

It's pretty noticeable on mine. When I run my Genesis games through the 32X I notice the picture is considerably crisper.

When I emulate Genny games on my PC, PSP, or netbook the picture is clearer too.

I thought so too, but I feared that it was just me being bias.

Good man. :D

I can't think of any better reason.

Its honestly a shame that the capability was never utilized. Its understandable why it wasn't, but that doesn't stop it from being sad.

It depends on the Genesis you're using I guess. On my 3/4 motherboard Genesis 2 I don't see a noticeable difference.

I thought this would be relevant to the thread and for anyone interested in the "Neptune"

A modification for the 32x and Megadrive to be modified into a real neptune with only 1 power cable

I never understood the 32X. It was basically trying to display games on the Genesis at 32bit? How did the Sega CD 32X work? Was that also an add on to the unit like the carts? How was Night Trap for it? I was always interested in picking one up but I was never sure if it was worth it or not. I would also have to see how much they go for as well.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!
