Alright, I just hooked everything up, including my new drive. Everything functions beautifully. I couldn't be happier! Now I just need to get a better video cable (still running through an NES AV). Even with the grainy picture though I managed to play some Dragon's Lair :D

congratulations! must be a most satisfying moment, I'm sure =)

on that note, I stuck with RF-cabel for about 10 years
it may not be the clearest picture, but it helped "blur" the graphics to make it that much smoother

ghetto-Anti Aliasing ^^

what joystick(s) do you have?

My picture is almost unusably noisy. I'm using an NES RF (It's all I have at the moment) and there is a lot of snow in my picture. I can barely see the text when I'm typing the run command :? . Still, it was very satisfying. Hearing the 1541 wind and click and the old-school Electronic Arts logo pop up... Awe inspiring :D.

As far as joysticks; I have this Wico Command Control. Seems pretty good.

Great Joystick. Of note, a very easy custom stick mod can be done, no special interface needed. A simple connection of five wires to the buttons and a nine pin joystick plug.

You can also go S-Video I mentioned on the 1st page.

Wico did make the most all-rounded joysticks, there are also two other handles for that verision; one with ball-top and one shaped like a "grip"-handle for your hand (flight-stick-kindda)

I also strongly recommend picking up some TAC-2's for games such as Microprose Soccer and Delta, etc. where you need a more "arcade"-feel to the game

they're very cheap and usually easy to come by

@CRTGamer: I appreciate all the tips but... I have no idea how to do those mods  . I'm well versed in pretty much all things pertaining to PC's and Gaming except doing things in the realm of modding and such. It's not that I don't want to learn, I just don't know where to even get started or how. Also, my TV only has co-ax input right now so I'm limited to RF at the moment anyway  . (A friend is trying to hook me up with an HD-CRT. Hopefully soon).

@Lord Santa: I appreciate all the tips. I am interested in getting some different peripherals, so when I have the extra money I'll look up those joysticks. I'm also probably going to start investing in Software lots on eBay. Dragon's Lair is good and all, but I think I need more

There is also a Commodore Composite cable available, Google should find a few.

I have the parts to build a C= S-video cable if you decide to go that route. I could probably make you one for $12 shipped.
