Pokemon games on Craigslist
I dont know about craigslist in other areas, but around here ( san fernando valley ) people will raise the price of pokemon games because they beat it and its filled with pokemon, then they complain when you reply asking them to lower the price and start a new game, which im going to do anyway. I dont want you to beat the game for me just to get more money.

yeah it's a weird phenomenon. I don't really get the appeal of someone having the experience for you.

Re: Pokemon games on Craigslist
Having completed a game could boost the value for certain games. I sold Super Mario World for GBA on eBay a few months ago. I mentioned in the description that I had unlocked everything, not thinking much of it. That fact ended up almost doubling the price, but at least people can still access the whole game unlike Pokemon.

Nah, there's no competitive scene for the first games since the latter are much better in every regard and don't have the same Pokémon on every team.
They simply think they have gold and that some crazy collector is going to pay millions.

Re: Pokemon games on Craigslist
I've played Pokemon with a few other people before, and there's sort of a philosophy behind this...
There's a certain group of people who like doing really well at the game without cheating (EG. using a gameshark.) This either means having rare monsters or really well bred ones that can battle well (like with natures lined up perfectly, EV trained, holding a well-thought-out and usually rare item.) This can involve having multiple game carts to obtain hard to reach monsters and items.
So if they buy a game from someone else that has cool stuff on it, they'll use 2 Nintendo DS's and trade to get the valuables off, then reset the game or keep it as such to import anything else they might want in the future. The idea is that since the loot was unlocked without cheating, it's free game.
I mean, I got a second hand copy of Sapphire and imported Kyogre off of it. I found a $10 copy of Soul Silver and took a Togetic off it cause I wanted it for the Pokedex, too. Just sayin'.
However, I've never observed anyone willing to pay more for a game to plunder the items and stuff on it. That's just craigslist people being retarded.

Reminds me of those idiots who pay hundreds of dollars for overplayed WOW accounts.
