Virtua Cop 2... which version to get?

Post by Flak Beard »

Which version of Virtua Cop 2 is worth getting? Saturn / Sega Smash Pack / Standalone Dreamcast

The Smash Pack and Saturn versions seem the cheapest, and I have no idea if the standalone version can be found very easily. I'm kind of leaning towards the Smash Pack since it has Shining Force as well, but I also plan to get a Saturn soon.

Which version do you guys recommend? Also, if I go with one of the DC games, what are some other good Light Gun titles?

I can only vouch for the Saturn version, but i'd assume they're almost exactly the same. And if this is true, as i'm sure someone else will confirm true or not, your choice comes down to price, controller, and TV. For the price category, if they're about the same, i would think the smash pack version would be better, as you get more games. For controller, which light gun do you prefer? The saturn or Dreamcast one. I love my black Jap Saturn Light gun to pieces. :) And then, graphics, but both the output and the graphics should be the same. :) Hope that helps.

Confidential mission is pretty sweet and has fantastic voice acting like house of the dead.

The Dreamcast gun goes for about $30 or so on eBay, but I think I saw one at my local game store for less. My Saturn purchase is starting to look questionable as well. The games I wanted the most for it, I'm finding they have ports on other systems. Maybe the Saturn versions are superior, but superior enough to get the system? I'm not sure.

The Saturn version is much cheaper, and just feels better. The Dreamcast one is a PC port and for some reason feels pretty soulless.

If you already have a Dreamcast system and not a Sega Saturn, I'd recommend the Dreamcast version on the Sega Smash Pack. I've owned both. The Dreamcast one has better graphics and the Saturn one isn't quite worth buying a Sega Saturn over.

Is there a specific gun I need to buy for the Dreamcast to play on the Smash Pack? Or will any gun peripheral work?
