Oh man I know how that feels. I let the entire handheld kingdom slip me by as a kid until I bought a GBASP with my own money. I felt like such a fool!

Games today are as fun as ever. No more, no less.

Also probably the selection of games you have for retro consoles is better, bigger and more suited to your tastes that the games you ahve for PS3.

chupon wrote:You nailed it man. The PS3 is an amazing system - I've got about 20 of the best games for it too, but you know what I was playing this afternoon? My SNES. Man I love that console.

That's just the way it is. You know your Dreamcast the best because that's what you grew up with and that's what you played with your friends all the time. There's no escaping it.

I say try and keep up with current gen, but acknowledge your one true love. You'r kids won't ever understand because it's a generational thing. Even if you force the old school on them it won't work.

I've got a cousin maybe 5 or 6 years older then me and he swears by the Amiga as being the greatest. He still plays it almost daily, and has no current gen consoles. To each his own I guess.
You said it. Like I don't care for any game systems that came out before the NES but I know a lot of people would consider some of them to be the best while in my opinion, SNES is the greatest console of all time.

I'm not a huge fan of this generation and I'm not into online play, but to completely dismiss this generation your missing out on some amazing games. all three systems have some gems.

I play a little of everything...On any given day I'll switch between my old school stuff on emulator or an old system to my PS3. Online is cool for CoD and some Madden but it doesn't beat real comp in an Arcade. Honestly that's where I had the most fun and it was the time spent under pressure and have two options...be rich enough to pump quarters in or be good enough to stay on the stick while others pumped quarters in. The loss of Arcades is where my childhood died. The old school was about making you work and the new school is geared more toward style...both had there good points and bad but neither is better. I had just as much fun beating Altered Beast and Vigilante in a weekend back in the day as I did beating InFamous and Uncharted.
