12 MB is ridiculously enormous for an SNES game. The original All-Stars ROM is about 2MB. Something is on that disc other than a ROM and an emulator.Ziggy587 wrote:Yeah, I had the same impression. NOTHING new, just the straight up All-Stars ROM. If you rip the game disc and scrub it, the size is like 12MB.

Re: Disappointed with Mario 25th Anniversary Collection
Making people pay £20 for a rom and a few cheaply made extras is a bit poor show on Nintendos part. I can justify them doing it though. If anyone bought it then they either:
1) Never played the games
2) Have big pockets
3) Don't own the original all stars
Fair enough I suppose but compared to other gaming comps out there it is still lackluster. Sonic Mega collection looks big compared to mario all stars it has to be said.

Yeah, I guess that is a little big considering my zSNES folder is under 2MB. Maybe their emulator takes up 10MB? I don't see how there could be secret surprise stuff on the disc, when you launch the games it's JUST the ROM.

10MB for an emulator still seems slightly large. Some of the space is probably taken by the animated channel banner though. I'm not saying there's a secret bonus or anything. It's just that in terms of disk space ROM < non-ROM, and by a lot more than I would have expected.Ziggy587 wrote:Yeah, I guess that is a little big considering my zSNES folder is under 2MB. Overall, there was NO POINT to buy the game other than to get the book and stuff.

Pretty box, and for people who never owned all stars (like me) it was a great deal.

It's $57 USD where I live. I want it but I'm not buying it at that price.
Thanks everyone...

In that case, buy it anyway, and then sell it on ebay for 2-3 times that price.
Re: Disappointed with Mario 25th Anniversary Collection
Is it really going for 2-3 times that much on ebay right now?
