Game series you just can't wait for

I was thinking the other day about my gaming purchases - I'm pretty good for trying out new games and IPs whenever I can, I think there's nothing better than a brand new game that you're unfamiliar with, but end up being so drawn into it you cant stop.

That said, I noticed that sometimes, these series I haven't tried and new IPs get ignored by me because I can only afford one game - and there's a big name title coming out refuse to wait for.

For example, I bought Pokemon Red, Gold, Sapphire, LeafGreen, Diamond and Heartgold on launch day. I also have a preorder down on Pokemon White . Another example- Zelda. If the choice came down to a new IP I was really really excited by, or another zelda game....I think I'd buy the Zelda game. Golden Sun too - I put off a lot of games I really wanted over Christmas,and could've gotten for pretty cheap, because I had to have Dark Dawn at launch.

Are there any series you guys just have to have on launch day, potentially at the expense of other stuff you really liked the look of too?

There is rarely anything I simply MUST have on launch day, but there are some games that I find myself wanting to pick up quickly. Recently, when Sly Collection came out, I HAD to have it. I love the Sly Cooper series.

I'm always quick to want to pick up a new Final Fantasy game, as long at it's not some MMORPG nonsense. The franchise has lost some of its luster in recent years, but still has my loyalty. It's all about commitment people! LOL. I was also pretty hardcore with the Mega Man X series. Even poorely rated ones I still had to go out and buy(like MMX 6 and 7).

If a game comes out that does something very cool I've never seen before, sometimes I will be excited enough to go out and buy it at full price, especially if it is something I have always wanted to see, like the heavy metal tribute that was Brutal Legend, or someone finally doing a top quality 3D Batman game(Arkham Asylum)or someone doing a spiritual successor to something I love(Enslaved became something I wanted to buy when I saw it had some similarities to Ico, though the game kind of let me down)

Any non-bullshit Megaman release. I am buying a 3DS just to be ready for Legends 3.

Mario kart. I have loved the series since the N64 titles; even though many didn't like Mario Kart Wii, I really did and am buying a 3ds just for the new one. I'm willing to wait

Another one is Pokemon series. The games imo, haven't lost their charm. I'm also excited for Pokemon White and plan on preordering it as well.

Kingdom Hearts 3. I'm tired of so many ds releases! Also any valve game. Valve kicks ass.

Pokemon all the way. I have every main series game. And I doubled up on the DS release due to the fact that they are going to cost an arm and a leg for the game new in like 3 to 5 years (im looking at you 3rd generation, you assholes).

Although im not getting black or white. I kinda want to stop at the 4th gen. for various reasons.

Mario, Sonic, Zelda.

I shit bricks when they announced Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, so there's another.

I shit bricks again when they announced Skyrim. The Elder Scrolls is a series that makes me drool, so when November rolls around I'll be forsaking everything else (work? wife? what are you talking about? Go away) to play the new game.

There are others, but they're escaping me at the moment.
