What Should I Play Next?
I've got a couple games that I either want to start, or have already started, but just can't seem to continue with, so I want an opinion on what I should play next. Most of them are RPGs, though.

Skies of Arcadia. Out of curiosity, DC or GCN port?

Re: What Should I Play Next?
I'm biased toward Skies of Arcadia, which I found almost as charming as the original Grandia and I really loved how they used the air pirate theme in every aspect of the gameplay(like the cool ship to ship battles). I absolutely loved that game
I played the GC version, which I think is better overall. Can't go wrong with the classic original DC version either though
EDIT:I mean air pirate. Fixed

I don't own the Dreamcast version, although I could try a burned copy, but I heard that the pirated version had some issues with compression and loading. Also, the DC version has more random encounters, which I find annoying, although I heard the game had special VMU functions that were exclusive to the DC version. Also, there is something to be said for playing a game on it's original hardware. Then again, I own a legitimate copy of the game for the Gamecube, and that version is supposed to run more smoothly than the DC version. I can't decide.AmishSamurai wrote:Skies of Arcadia. Edit: Ooh, that's another one; I want to play Grandia, as well.

Well the Gamecube version does have extra content. I never played the DC version, but I felt the Gamecube version had a lot of encounters so I can't imagine what it's like on the DC versionlisalover1 wrote:I don't own the Dreamcast version, although I could try a burned copy, but I heard that the pirated version had some issues with compression and loading. I've started playing it, but I just can't seem to get into it like I did with 4. I just beat the first full moon shadow, and I'm still barely seeing any traces of story. I'll probably keep playing in increments, though, if for nothing else to see what Aigis is like.Bradtemple87 wrote:PERSONA 3

Re: What Should I Play Next?
I guess what I'm trying to ask is, all things considered, what is the definitive version of Skies of Arcadia? I'm pretty sure it is the next game I want to play, but to the GC version's upgrades justify giving up the appeal that comes from playing it on the Dreamcast?

Re: What Should I Play Next?
Supposedly the DC version is better soundwise. Other than that, I honestly can't think of any reason to pick the DC version over what is essentially a "special edition" version of the game on the Gamecube. Copied and pasted from Hardcore Gaming 101:
In 2003, a revamped version of Skies of Arcadia hit American shores for the Gamecube. Called Skies of Arcadia Legends, it was a more or less direct port of the Dreamcast original, with a few extras thrown in. Through a subquest involving the gathering of hidden moonfish, you could learn more about the pasts of Ramirez and Vyse while battling the pirate hunter Piastol. Additional extra battles were thrown in with eight special bounties available at the Sailor's Guild (though two of them are just rewards for ordinary boss battles found in the Dreamcast version). Additionally, there are about 24 extra discoveries, and as a special treat for diligent players, a new ultimate weapon, an additional ship battle, and a chance to fight against a new super tough boss. There are a couple of extra characters, including Piastol and Vize the Legend, an evil group of rogues that rips off the look of our heroes.
