Yay for PS3 bashing! Could this console get any worse? Why the hell are ppl still interested in the console. I suppose it plays bd's bt when they cost £20 a pop and never come down in price id rather stick with hundreds of dvds and my 1080p upscaling dvd player!

Besides, have you ever seen the difference on a nice (Bravia or Mitsubishi DV) 1080P TV playing an upscaled DVD versus a BD movie? It's noticably less sharp to me, not bad, but just not great.

I don't think I'm ever going to be able to approach a cute member of the opposite sex without thinking of that sanskrit joke now. In the PS 3's defense, it supposedly loads everything faster than the 360 version AFTER that super long install. So while the long wait when you first play is annoying, I guess it's better in the long run. Still seems insane to have to wait that long to play. I think PC gaming is starting to bleed too much into console gaming. I mean, INSTALL TIMES now. Console gaming is losing its identity.
Excuse me? It's the other way around. Most PC games have become console-ized.Gamerforlife wrote:I think PC gaming is starting to bleed too much into console gaming. I mean, INSTALL TIMES now. Console gaming is losing its identity.
Anyways, the whole DMC4 PS3 installation thing is really only a problem because it's mandatory. They should have just made it optional. I mean, what happened to all that talk of Blu-Ray allowing faster access rates? If that were true, then the game should be playable instantly, and still have shorter load times than the 360 version.

Maybe it was wearing out the BD-ROM or something. Who knows though, not me, don't own one and nor do I play videogames anymore.Mozgus wrote:Excuse me? It's the other way around. Well according to tycho's post yesterday, there is no disernable difference between the two versions. So clearly the 360 version is better both technically and ergonomically as you don't have to wait for it to install and it streams off the disc at the same speed the PS3 version reads of the hard drive. Surely the fact that the ps3 version is mandatory install, goes some way to show that the bd unit in the ps3 was such a bad move on Sony's part due to it's huge impact on load times. Until sony upgrade the optical drive in the ps3's to improve load times it just isn't a viable option, when the games for 360 load practically instantly compared to the stupidly long load times of the ps3 versions (guitar hero III anyone?). I can't see Sony upgrading the drive any time soon seeing as they're concentrating on downscaling the manufacturing process of the cell to 45nm. Which I should stress is to increase Sony's profit margin rather than passing the benifit on to the consumer. I guess another 'price cut' will be forthcoming, read 'price cut' as downgrade in features for less money. Somebody should inform Sony's marketing that a price cut only works when it's the same product for less money, not a lesser product for less money.
