Poses, facial expressions, movement, walks. That is acting in live action so applying it to animation seems fine. When you watch Scooby Doo and they remain static while only their mouth moves and poorly at that. I think that's bad acting, because the image doesn't act like the character would. The drawing is your actor, so as to speak.
