Japanese models use the Genesis/Mega Drive model 1 adapter. I just thought I'd point that out again. Does anyone know about EU/AU Game Gears?
I think PAL regions use the older barrel like the Japanese one.

eBay seems to think so.

I don't have any Game Gear games yet but I was going to get a master system converter for it from here here. Are such converters worth buying, generally speaking?

Speaking of power supplies. Am I right in thinking that the Mega Drive 1 plug works fine with the Game Gear?
The converters themselves work well, but the problem is that the GG screen is much smaller than the TV screen that the MS games are designed to be used on so often the sprites are too small to be able to play properly. If there was a GG port made of the games that you want to play, I recommend getting that instead since GG games are cheap.

The UK MD1 PSU's are the same as the GG. I beleive that in the US they used the PSU from the MD2

I love mine. I love the ability to play Master System games on the go. He is right about the screen though. Sometimes if your character is running to fast on certain games you might run into an enemy you'd normally otherwise see. But it doesn't happen on most of the games I play on it. The Master System Sonic games are the only ones I have that problem on. However I have this problem on some of the Game Gear Sonic games, too, so maybe it's the games themselves.

I know it is possible to consolize the Game Gear. You can mod it for RGB out and add a controller port. I've seen a few youtube videos about it and am extremely tempted to try to find someone who can do it for me.

I have 2 Game Gears, both work good for the most part. However, the screens are pretty faded. Being able to plug in a Master System or Mega Drive controller and play my games on my TV would be really cool.

Land of Illusion is one of my favorite Game Gear games. I used to play it a lot when I was kid.

*edit*

Here we go. Check this out. It's so awesome.
