I'm gonna edit my post, apparently I confused Greg Weiman with the guy who created Highlander. My geek brain is on the fritz today
So who is watching Young Justice tonight?

I meant to say Greg Weisman before, he wrote tonight's episode and wrote for Gargoyles as well. I'm really off tonight, given the silly mistake I made in the wrestling thread too

On a related note: Gargoyles was/is awesome! I love that cartoon! It's so comic book-ish, yet the only comic was a crappy spin-off based off of the cartoon. Constant mix of sorcery and technology. Recurring villains and characters. Awesome battles. And ongoing storyarcs. Somebody needs to bring them back in a big way.Gamerforlife wrote:I meant to say Greg Weisman before, he wrote tonight's episode and wrote for Gargoyles as well. Actually, I'm pretty sure Greg Weisman did an official comic book continuation that I've been meaning to get caught up on for AGES. I have two random issues. I think you can find them on amazon.com. I loved the Shakespearean influences in the show, as I was taking a Shakespeare class in high school at the time. I also love the various mythologies they incorporated. The show was actually kind of educational if you look at all of its influences, a lot of stuff young kids wouldn't even know about. Also, they did an anti-gun violence episode I liked as it wasn't cheesy or preachy. It just showed a realistic situation where a gun accidentally hurt someone. A pretty adult moment for a show primarily aimed at children. Also, props for having Star Trek:TNG voice actors and references to the Illuminati in its storylines. It is one of my favorite animated shows of all time. Back then, when anime was all the rage, this was a great example of American animation. Brooklyn and Demona were my fave characters. I loved the interplay between them with Brooklyn being the next in line to rule the clan and her being its biggest adversaryBurningDoom wrote:On a related note: Gargoyles was/is awesome! Re: So who is watching Young Justice tonight?
You know what? I really liked the way they handled Robin not being qualified to lead this past episode. It made a lot of sense.
Batman and Robin know eachother inside and out. They know what their roles are in any situation and don't need much communiation. However, now that Robin is working with different people, he needs to learn how to communicate what he's doing instead of constantly running off on his own and just expecting everyone to know what he is up to. Robin has more experience and is smarter than the rest of the team. On paper, he sounds like the guy who should be in charge, but he has never worked with anyone other than Bats. He doesn't understand how to be part of a team. Works for me.
I love Superboy's no tights, no capes attitude. Seriously, who the hell would wear capes or tights if they were real life superheroes? Fun show so far, not on the level of Justice League Unlimited, but I like it. It feels like a more grown up take on the teen titans formula as there is no silliness on this show. It always plays things straight. So far the show just seems to be laying down its foundation. I want to see some conflict and drama, but it's only like the third episode. I'll be patient. I remember an interview before the show came out saying they are going to kill people off as necessary for the story. That fascinates me, as they just couldn't do that on the kid friendly Teen Titans

I would totally watch it if it starred the Flaming C.
