Fave Alternative games? TJ&E, Vib Ribbon, Rez etc...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I'd really suggest checking out Odama on the gamecube/wii... world's first RTS pinball game.

my god is it one of the hardest games I've ever played, but extremely rewarding.

its great to pull out with a group of friends. my friends arent even gamers but I swear every time we play it, it turns into an 8 hour marathon.

Ahhh yeah Odama. I've never played it but it looks fun and completely crazy too!

If we can make a good list containing 10 of these genrebusting, underselling cult style games. I'll research them and write an article about how these games are adored by their fans and completely misunderstood by the mainstream etc etc...

So, can anyone think of anymore? There must be loads from the NES/SNES era right? How about some Arcade ones? Games that make you think why would any kid on the street want to put a coin in this machine?? haha.

Seaman on the DC is pretty out there. I'm sure there's loads more...

Mr. Mosquito is still one of the weirdest games I've played. Didn't finish it, but it seemed fun

I still can't wrap my head around Katamari Damacy's lunacy, and destroying everything on earth with a big, giant ball is a one of a kind experience.

These games are definitely outside the norm.

Oh, and there's Tecmo's Deception series, which I love. I don't know what genre they fall under.

Sigma Star Saga - A cross between an RPG and a shooter for the GBA
Rhythm Tengoku - A goofy rhythm game designed by the guys who make Warioware and the guy who produces Morning Musume. One of those games that makes my friends shake their heads. GBA, only Japan.

Rhythm Tengoku is one of my faves, I have the JPN import and have been helping out (a little lol) on a translation for the ROM. I'll check out some of these others, thanks :)

Although I am not sure if this is considered "alternative"
Katamari Damacy is one of my favorite games of all time :)

KD was a curiousity to me. People kept talking about it. The concept sounded mildly interesting to me, but like Rez, you can't appreciate KD by just hearing a description of it. You have to experience it. I have never experienced the kind of feeling that I got as I rolled my big ball(that sounds vaguely perverted)over huge cities, like some terrible god of destruction. My god the sheer insanity of rolling up ACTUAL CLOUDS in this big ball of people, animals, cars, ships, skycrapers, toys, random objects, sea creatures, godzilla-like monsters(takes deep breath). There is simply no other experience like it. You're basically bringing the apocalypse to the world, and yet it's all done in this cutesy, innocent manner with catchy music :)

Katamari Damacy was sheer lunacy, and I loved it.

P.S. I don't think any of this was spoilery, as you pretty much know everything the game is about by just reading any random review of it.
