So who is watching Young Justice tonight?
Premieres tonight, for you DC comic book fans. Actually, I'm watching it now. Batman and Robin are in this show. That has me sold on it

I saw the premiere in December... They showed it once then, but yes this is the official season kick off and I'm in.Gamerforlife wrote:Premieres tonight, for you DC comic book fans. Actually, I'm watching it now. Batman and Robin are in this show. That has me sold on it
I was quite interested in this show since the original Young Justice comic was quite funny. It was like the Mel Brooks of comic books. After watching the premiere, the cartoon is just a new modernized Teen Titans show - which isn't a bad thing.
Let us know what you thought after you watch it!

I think this was actually the second episode actually. I may have missed the first one. I liked what I saw though. The animation is pretty good IMO. It's similar to Justice League Unlimited. I liked Teen Titans, but I think this has more going for it. I prefer the more traditional art style(Teen Titans went with an anime look)and it looks like this show has the potential for more drama as I don't get the feeling that this show will be quite as light hearted as Teen Titans was, which is good. I prefer something that can take itself seriously even though I enjoyed Teen Titans. That's actually why I never watched Batman: The Brave and the Bold, because I wasn't really interested in watching another show that wasn't going to take itself seriously. I like a little drama, which Justice League: Unlimited, Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond always provided.SpaceBooger wrote:I saw the premiere in December... I also love that the Justice League(and especially Batman)will feature in this show in some way. I liked how Robin already shows a slight loner streak(the way he leaves his team mates behind during a fight sequence) and has already established himself as the brainy one who is good with computers. Those are all Batman traits. Don't know if I like his voice actor though. I think I actually preferred the one he had in Teen Titans
One other thing that has my interest is that Greg Weisman is involved in this show. He was responsible for the excellent Gargoyles animated series(except for the crappy last season, which I don't think he was a part of)

I agree with your post, and my "Teen Titans" reference was to the comic not the god awful cartoon from a couple of years ago.
This show does have a teenage Justice League feel and should be successful especially with the way they portrayed all of the sidekicks.

Re: So who is watching Young Justice tonight?
Watched Independance Day Part 2 tonight, I really enjoyed it. This episode was mostly about Superboy, but everyone got plenty of face time. What I love is how PERFECTLY they are using Robin. Everyone's knows I'm a big Batman fan and everything Robin did was in true Batman form tonight. He was doing all the thinking in this episode. He's not the strongest(Superboy), he's not the leader(Aqualad), he's not the fastest(Kid Flash), but he was clearly the glue holding this team together tonight, with an answer for every problem they came across(saving Superboy, having the team escape through the vent, hacking the sensors, figuring out how to beat the episode's big bad). LOVE IT!
Seeing Batman and the entire Justice League at the end was sweet. Brings me back to my days watching Justice League Unlimited as the character designs was pretty much the same and the overall art style of the show is similar. Everyone from the original Justice League is very much in character too. I love the fact that Batman will be assigning this young Justice League their missions and the fact that he is using them for covert ops fits his character perfectly.
Random things I liked also were the Incredible Hulk joke, shades of Superman versus Doomsday in the fight at the end and the fact that Robin was worrying about Batman's reaction when he realized how long it took for Robin and his team to escape Cadmus
I like that the kids all have the appropriate one liners and humor to keep the younger audience watching the show, but the show overall, takes itself seriously. This isn't another Teen Titans, they can do some serious storylines with this show if they really want to. Greg Weisman did a masterful job of keeping Gargoyles a show that could appeal to its target audience while still writing stories and characters that I still enjoy now as an adult(let's ignore Gargoyles last season that he wasn't part of). So I feel confident I will enjoy this show. I haven't watched an animated tv series regularly for a while, but I'll be following this one. Thumbs up!

Re: So who is watching Young Justice tonight?
I already saw this 2-parter as an hour-length preview episode. They showed it in December on Cartoon Network, one time only, I DVR-ed.
Really good episode. It's got me into it enough that I have the 2nd episode and there after set to record. And normally, I can't stand teen sidekick characters like Robin and Kid Flash. The writing and story was good enough for me to look past it. With Mighty Avengers and this, it looks like we're finally getting comic-based animated series as good as the 90s again. I heard that Green Lantern the animated series is next to come.

Re: So who is watching Young Justice tonight?
Funny, I just finished watching Justice League Unlimited today. I guess I've got a new series to watch
it's a shame JLU ended on such a low point. The Legion of Doom was hardly used to its fullest potential, and the first/second season's finale was much better (the battle with Luthor/Brainiac).
The way you guys describe it, this show must be just as good

Re: So who is watching Young Justice tonight?
Oh yeah, the battle with Luthor/Brainiac was fantastic. Flash's best moment on the entire series. I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to recall that the writers of Justice League Unlimited were getting a bit worn out towards the end. I think that's why they ended the series. Don't quote me on that thoughZeroAX wrote:Funny, I just finished watching Justice League Unlimited today. I guess I've got a new series to watch

But yeah, you will probably like Young Justice. I've been waiting for a spiritual successor to Justice League Unlimited and also an animated show that could make Batman a serious character again so I like this

The best episode of JLU was titled "Epilogue" where it explained the true origin of "Batman Beyond."ZeroAX wrote:Funny, I just finished watching Justice League Unlimited today. I guess I've got a new series to watch

I have not yet caught up on YJ, but these posts have me looking forward to it.
