(Copied and pasted from another thread!) The guy that designed Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game put this out recently. It's an NES-style platformer in the same vein as Megaman or Ninja Gaiden. VERY hard game, and it gets totally frustrating towards the end, but I feel great now that I've put the time in to beat it! There is no saving in this game, and there are 16 levels. The levels aren't really long, but they are difficult, so it took me about two hours to finish it. The final boss alone took about a half hour of my night away from me! His first phase is just a fucking blitzkrieg of shurikens, so taking damage is almost inevitable!
This game really is worth putting the time into! It's a labor of love, and you can really tell in the overall quality of the game. Favorite game of the year so far!
This is my first game beaten in 2011! This is one of the most high quality FMV adventures of all time. If you want to see the genre done well (and not just done cheesy), this is probably the best game to get. It involves a lot of detective work and reading in the earlier parts of the game and then that really pays off in the end because the last two chapters (the hunt and the opera) are fantastic. Most of the puzzles in the game were fairly pretty logical, though there were a few times I had to rely on a walkthrough because there are occassionally puzzles that are off the wall or items that are impossible to notice without having them pointed out. For the most part though, the adventuring is top notch and the acted sequences are fun to watch. I really like the way this game took real world history about King Ludwig II of Bavaria and Wagner and used the missing pieces and mysteries about Ludwig II's life to craft a strange fiction about werewolves, the occult, and secret societies. I actually learned something about German history and the German language. How often can you say something like that after playing a videogame?

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter (PC)(FPS) X-Men: Mutant Academy (PS1)(Fighting) Street Fighter Alpha (PS2)(Fighting) Extermination (PS2)(Survival Horror) Spyro the Dragon (PS1)(Platformer) Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!(PS1)(Platformer)
TOTAL: 6
I followed up the first Spyro immediately with the second. Considering I beat it the very next day, I figure it's obvious I enjoyed myself. Insomniac changed a few things for the sequel, but over all I feel it was a successful followup. The "quests" the player has to follow were an interesting change of pace, and some of them required a little thought but all were pretty fun. The world design was once again entertaining, pretty, and well thought out. I rarely had any issues with the camera, and the controls felt spot on 99% of the time Also getting 100% really wasn't a problem, though I'm sure I'm nowhere near the total number of skills.
So yeah, I can see why some folks love this series so much. I've been told it goes downhill from here, particularly after Insomniac stops making them, but the third one is still supposed to be good so I may jump into that soon.

It may seem difficult at first, but don't give up easy. It's a really great game, another new indie title that would have been a classic had it been released twenty plus years ago! Also, use a game pad if you have one! I used my Street Fighter IV Madcatz fight pad for the 360, and it works GREAT for platformers.
1. Mercs (PS2) 2. Darkstalkers 3 (PS1) 3. House Of The Dead Overkill (Wii) 4. Mega Man 3 (PS2) 5. Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters (PS2)
oh snaps, I just realized that Power Fighters was unlocked after I beat MM3. So I gave it a shot. If you're not familiar, Power Battle and Power Fighters were arcade fighting games based on the MM series. So it's basically a 2D Fighter OR just a MM Boss Rush. Anyway, the graphic style was fantastic. I really loved seeing the redrawn sprites for characters like Wood Man and Cuts Man, etc. The game is actually laughably easy though. I beat it without much effort at all. In fact, I beat the first four bosses without the need to even switch to a more powerful weapon than the blaster. But whatever, it's a fun game and is visually and musically appealing to fans of the series. All in all, a really nice bonus game for an excellent collection (Anniversary Collection).

sega castle of illusion disney's aladdin the lion king
another solid disney game. this one is a bit tougher than aladdin and took me probably between 6-8 run throughs before finally beating it. and like aladdin, once i got the levels down i was able to fly through them with no problem. i could have sworn that i have beaten this game in the past, but had no idea how to beat the final boss. i normally don't like looking things up, but i wasted 3 or 4 continues just on the last boss/level and didn't want to have to go through the whole game again just to have another chance. there would have been no way i would have figured him out because you are supposed to do a move that i didn't know even existed in the game.
i have one more disney game that i didn't beat last year - mickey mania -and two that i did beat last year - world of illusion and toy story. i will probably run through those three next and go huntin' for some more disney games.
