The forums I go to (TheSpeedGamers, ZeldaDunegon, and here) people actually read posts and are open-minded.

You have not provided proof that blowing into carts causes game-breaking failure. How many blows and at what frequency does it take to cause permanent, game breaking corrosion? To even attempt to figure this out you would need a brand new cart that has never been exposed to any humidity. The air in your house is humid (even the driest points on Earth are humid); you would need a clean room environment. Then you would need to blow at some rate and periodically test if the cart works. If the cart doesn't work, you would have to show the cause is related to blowing. Then you would need to clean the cart to see if you could get it to work. If the cart does work, you would repeat this entire process until the game no longer functions. If you did this and documented it properly then you might have some proof that someone could take seriously. Right now you don't.

We don't need to prove anything. We haven't even had carts die due to corrosion, let alone try to comprehend the cause of it. We have several hundred games in aggregate, a significant sample size.

No one here is saying not to use a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. It may be necessary if blowing doesn't work. But you might as well try blowing first...it's not going to hurt anything.

We've told them about 5 times how and why blowing into carts cause corrosion. DO THEY EVEN READ THE POSTS?! :x
If I had the time, I'd write a huge post explaining clearly how and why blowing into carts cause corrosion. That'd shut'em up.
Please, do not put TrueMagus into the same category as the rest of us at Gamespot. That guy simply argues to argue and listens to nothing. This is far from the first time, and I myself have gotten frustrated to no end with him. He went on and on, and on, and on about how Illusion of Gaia was not an RPG in any way whatsoever. While the rest of us were trying to tell him that while it's not a JRPG, it is an action-RPG. Then after we gave up, he started messaging me to continue shoving it down my throat. Anyways, I don't want to get into it all over again. Needless to say, we aren't all like TrueMagus.

However, somebody that makes a whole new thread about it to argue some more could be considered a little ridiculous, too...

Heh... Quite true, sir...

I have met some pretty cool people over there but that was a long time ago. Once they stopped posting I kind of lost interest... And then it really got bad. :|
Hopefully this site won't turn into another GS.

I didn't read the entire thread over at gamespot, but I did read the first page. The argument basically came to this guy telling you that smoking kills and most of the people on that forum saying they know a bunch of people who smoke a lot and haven't died yet.

It's only natural when you are frustrated with people not having common sense, and denying solid arguments you make, to want to talk about it with people who have more common sense, so you can blow off some steam.

I find that the people like TrueMagnus are becoming the rule no the exception over there.

I read the majority of the Gamespot thread there. It must have been frustrating to have been a part of that, but I wouldn't take it personally, it's just one of billions of examples of reasons why the internet should be nuked from orbit.

However... I've been blowing into my carts for years. Of course, if I had thought about it for more than a second I would have realised why that's not the best idea. The problem is that it's almost a religious action, I've never really questioned doing it because it always seemed to work so when a game doesn't load up I instinctively blow into it.

The problem with these guys is that even when faced with logical reasons as to why it's a bad idea they still want to be right. It's just a case of them wanting the larger e-penis.

Ah, the oasis in the desert.

Where did we all learn this from any how? I remember my friends who had NES systems did it, but when I loaded a game into their systems they said to NEVER blow into the cart. But yes, I am in the ultra-traditional point where I blow on everything (for luck!) including as I said earlier, SD cards.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.
