Edited it once again, now it should be perfect. Thanks for pointing that out.

Re: Gradius 1 Review (NES/FC)
As always, a well written and informative review. However you'll have to forgive me for nitpicking a bit. You say you are reviewing the NES version, but you're reviewing a hack so anyone that isn't familiar with the game or runs off to buy it without reading all the way to the bottom is probably going to be a little disappointed that their NES game isn't like what you show. Their confusion will start when they are greeted by a blue title screen instead of a pink one like your article, the arcade, and some of the other conversions. The cart also came out before the convention in NES shmups where B fired your main weapon and A was the 'other action'. With a Gradius cart, A fires and B powers up.

I played both versions back to back and the differences are rather minor. Yes, there are some additional bosses as well as four options and a button config added, but the game still is Gradius. I own the Famicom cart and would happily recommend it just as it is.

But the point is your review is titled "Gradius Review (NES)" but you might as well be reviewing a port on another system. It is like posting a review of a base model car, but you actually drove around the luxury turbo model with leather seats and a sunroof. If the review was simply "Gradius Review" or "Gradius Review (Mr. Awesom's NES rom hack)" then it would be better IMHO.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:I played both versions back to back and the differences are rather minor. But as I said, not trying to be a jerk.

Re: Gradius 1 Review (NES/FC)
Not really. The first Gradius for a portable system, in this case was of Nintendo Game Boy Nemesis. The name Nemesis was held worldwide for the game release. It combines elements of Gradius and Gradius 2, as well as some brand new features.
