Even if you build your own, you will probably spend as much on parts for something of good quality. They may seem expensive to you, but if you have played enough sticks, you can DEFINITELY tell the difference in a good one.

brainofjtd wrote:XBLA fighters are stupidly broken (see SF2' and Fatal Fury Special) There is no reason why I should lose while being cheap with Vega/M. Bison on the easiest setting. Sorry, but it just doesn't make sense. Would I get good practice at the difficulty? No. But I shouldn't get my butt kicked as early as M. Bison/Balrog.
And here's the reason -

No disrespect intended, just saying that if you played either SFII' or Fatal Fury Special in their original arcade form, you'll realize the unforgiving nature of the computer! The reason is that they're Japanese-made video games, and the Japanese gaming audience loves them a challenge! (see: Super Mario Bros 2 vs Super Mario Bros. 2 USA.)
In fact, the mark of a well-developed fighting game is one that challenges you to adapt to each successive fighter. If you spam a move over and over again, the computer picks up on it and will exploit it - good game programming. And yes, even on easy levels! There's nothing wrong with you, or the game. You just need to change up your strategy a bit..

And FYI, to be good with Vega, or Bison/Balrog, (even cheap, if that's what you're trying to go for,) you really need a stick.. Just saying.. When it comes to charge characters, arcade sticks > gamepads, no matter how nice the pads are!

But... why? I'm genuinely curious since I want to actually be more into playing. The most you get out of most mainstream video game sites is "because."

Also, from what I've seen the Japanese don't really LOVE a challenge (see every major jRPG from the past 5 years) They're just very tolerant of video game companies sucking up their coinage and end up getting good enough to beat games designed to beat you.

But that's Japanese game development now, not the same as the 90's scene when these games were made!
Japan's losing their creative drive and are just bent right now on making a buck because they are feeling the pressure of the rest of the world's game companies. (This is why Inafune left Capcom - his superiors want him to subscribe to the status quo, but he wants to evolve.)

A good quote I read in a magazine recently (GamesTM #102) -
"The Japanese industry is feeding on itself and becoming more myopic all the time. It's all masturbation." Japanese devs seem to be prioritizing fan-service and whats popular and appealing over new ideas, gameplay, and innovation - something the West's indie scene has been striving for for 10 years now!

Fortunately the one place Japan will always have the West beaten at it fighting games.

I mean, I'm all for Killer Instinct 3 like any other good boy of the 90's, but damn if I don't salivate at the thought of the KOF13 port.

When is that coming stateside anyway?

I have to agree with you there - Eastern fighters trump anything the west will put out any day! The new MK looks cool as its a throwback to the original 3, but it's nowhere near as exciting as Marvel vs Capcom 3 is..

I keep pretty well up-to-date with the SNK news and haven't seen anything about a US release date for a home console port for KoFXIII, (I don't even think they formally announced a home port for NA yet, actually..)

It just hit arcades this summer, and knowing they're track record, I'd expect to hear something come this summertime. Maybe a late Fall or Winter '11 release - just my assumption!

There is no way Deadpool almost didn't make it. Way too much fan support behind that one. Way too many ways too break the 4th wall for goofs.
