Am I the only one that doesn't have a hard time with this zone? *shrugs*

Once I get through the zone I will not have a problem with it. Everyone reaches a snag in games sometimes.

Speaking of which, I don't know what to do about the giant reptile boss with the Metroids in Metroid Other M... it's annoying me. But don't tell me!

another level that pissed me off was 'Carnival Night Zone' in Sonic 3

those spinning platforms! took me years to find out how to beat them! This was before the internet tho!

god, i hated this level so much. the next level is my favorite in the game, though.

sonic 4 is alright, but merely alright. the controls are kinda off. just play sonic jam.

YES YES YES YES YES YES! When I was a kid, I only managed to beat that stage once because I clipped through the barrel in the PC version. Damn, when I found out you just had to press up and down, I got fucking pissed.

Yeah, it's definitely got a few things going against it. Fair warning, this may be a long post. Won't be as funny as yours either

The way Sonic jumps feels a bit weird. They also threw in the homing attack from the 3D games, which you can use on any object or enemy or just to boost him forward a bit when he's in the air if there is nothing to lock into. It feels weird the way they incorporated it into the game and seems like something that should have been left in 3D land. Also, some of the level designs are awkward. I actually had to solve a puzzle in one stage, which feels so wrong in a 2d Sonic game. Overall, the gameplay just feels weird. It takes a little getting used to.

The boss fights with Robotnick so far have been boring or just annoying. They were so much more interesting in the later 16-bit era Sonic games and this seems like a step backward. In fact, the whole game seems to ignore everything that was done in Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, discarding so many of the things that made those games cool. The whole thing feels like one MASSIVE step backwards. It's basically a Sonic 1 remake, but not as well put together. They try some new ideas in some stages, but they tend to fall flat

The special stages are like an expansion of the ones in Sonic 1, but much more frustrating. You have to manually move the stage around to guide Sonic through it and it just moves too fast when you do which gives the stages a chaotic feel. The bumpers are also placed in sadistic places in some of them where they will likely throw you into the goal circles, ending the stage and your chances of getting a chaos emerald. You also can't access parts of the special stages until you get a certain number of rings, which is annoying especially with the clock constantly ticking down. Also, one of the special stages was so large and complex with so many paths and barriers I felt like I was in an annoying maze. Took me an hour of retries to beat it. The special stages are just awful. Worst part of the game for me

The graphics and music are okay, though the way Sonic walks looks weird and the cartoonish way his legs spin around when he is moving at high speed looks a lot sillier than it did in the earlier 16-bit games. The music sounds like it's trying too hard to sound like Sonic 1 and 2 rather than actually being original, classic compositions in their own right. Ultimately, this makes the sound track rather forgettable

The game just has no heart and soul. It's so by the numbers in how it keeps copying stages and enemies from Sonic 1 and the game also feels unpolished. The fact that you only get four zones is kind of lame. I haven't finished it yet, but I've played enough to say that I'm not too impressed. It's not really a terrible game, but going up against the original classics on the Sega Genesis, it's not even in the same league. Road of Cards is an awesome stage though, the level design is actually not bad and you can blaze through some parts of the level like a good proper Sonic game. Bouncing around with all of the bumpers and flippers in the stage is fun. Plus, there's a very cool and well done 3D effect they used in that stage. It's like the ONLY stage they seem to have gotten right

Are you sure? It's deceptively simple, just not very easy even once you know.

I think we had an entire topic devoted to that stupid spinning cylinder from carnival night. I too got stuck in that section when I first got Sonic 3. I made it through once pretty much on accident. I think I was subconsciously pushing up and down while jumping. Took me years before I figured out the right way to do it.
