I would assume (maybe incorrectly) that Sony knows all of the legitimate signatures that their software creates via the keys and could use this to find software signatures that are legit but shouldn't have been used. I'm pretty sure if you're signed into PSN that they can also get a report that shows programs installed on your machine.D.D.D. wrote:How can they ban you from PSN if you're loading stuff/emus/etc with the master key? It shouldn't show up as anything suspicious, right?
Linux returns to PS3. Yes, that's both fat & slim models.

This is kind of what I was thinking was possible and an easier solution to creating that white list.JordanPlayer wrote:I would assume (maybe incorrectly) that Sony knows all of the legitimate signatures that their software creates via the keys and could use this to find software signatures that are legit but shouldn't have been used. I'm not going to try to do this until I have a second ps3 just to be safe.
And just thinking out loud here but:
If it is so easy to set up homebrew and emulators would it be feasable to just keep a usb with all the apps and the ctw, disconect from psn install it when you wanted to use then remove all programs put the saves on the usb as well and then just be able to flip flop back and forth?
They could try and pull a ubisoft possibly and that kinda scares me

So hackers have figured out how to give themselves trophies..
Why would you want to do this.. - what's the point?? To brag to all your 4th grade friends at recess that you've got x-amount of trophies on your dad's copy of Call of Duty..?
I'm all for gaming-based achievements, since they give you a reason, (sometimes) to replay a game differently or go another route, but Sony's Trophies never really grabbed me.. Now, with this going on, it's lost even more appeal to me. Sucks for anybody who seriously goes after Trophies in PS3 games, now that anybody can obtain them with a quarter of the effort...

See, I actually like this, because maybe it'll kill off this whole achievement thing and we can all get on with our lives.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:http://kotaku.com/5734099/ps3-hack-disp ... ies-galore

Are there lots of online cheaters on PS3? I haven't ever played a PS3 game online before.

Yeah, I realize that, I'm just wondering if cheaters are encountered often or not.

That's been possible ever since the first hack on 3.41 (IE over 6 months now)... It's not news. Way to go Kotaku, you are a fucking waste of internet bandwidth.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:http://kotaku.com/5734099/ps3-hack-disp ... ies-galore
