I hope they're out of the video gaming market before they can release the PS4. Assholes.
They're not that cheap, you know.
Linux returns to PS3. Yes, that's both fat & slim models.

Yeah, it's a sad day when corporations can get whatever they want laws be damned just because they have enough money to throw around. The little man gets shit on even though they haven't done anything wrong. Well, Geohot is a cocky little shit so he at least has a little bit of retribution coming his way. The fail0verflow guys haven't done anything wrong though. They haven't distributed Sony's code, they haven't circumvented copy protection measures, they haven't profited from the 'hack', they haven't released a device to circumvent copy protection, they haven't even released the keys. All of which Sony has accused them of. On paper the court case should fall flat on it's face. However considering this is Sony, they'll get away with murder, as usual, well, that's if they can even get them into the US to trial them. In other words the lawsuit is a non-starter for fail0verflow. Geohot isn't in such a good position, being a US citizen and all.EvilRyu2099 wrote: Lawsuits won't hurt a corporation that has a gross revenue of over $70 Billion and assets of over $130 Billion... Sony lost their lawsuits against Bleem and Lik-Sang (correct me if I'm wrong), but they still managed to throw enough money at the situation to win in the end.
What exactly can they do to a small hacker group if they lose the suit?

There are some rumors going around that Sony will start PSN ban waves, much like what Microsoft does. Is this feasible, or just a scare tactic? Your opinion, Niode?

How can they ban you from PSN if you're loading stuff/emus/etc with the master key? It shouldn't show up as anything suspicious, right?
(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

I was wondering how long this thread would take until it turned into a Sony bashing thread...

I think they would know whats official software that is licensed by Sony, versus say, an SNES emulator.D.D.D. wrote:How can they ban you from PSN if you're loading stuff/emus/etc with the master key? It shouldn't show up as anything suspicious, right?

I think that there should be an identification mask made for PS3 homebrew. It has been done before, so it isn't out of the question.Betamax001 wrote:I think they would know whats official software that is licensed by Sony, versus say, an SNES emulator.D.D.D. wrote:How can they ban you from PSN if you're loading stuff/emus/etc with the master key? In those cases what happened was that both companies were small, so the cost of the trial is what killed them. So if the small hacker group represents themselves they'll be fine, same with if they can find someone to represent them pro bono.AppleQueso wrote:Sony lost their lawsuits against Bleem and Lik-Sang (correct me if I'm wrong), but they still managed to throw enough money at the situation to win in the end.
