Because the Chinese government wants to limit outside influences. One could write a book on China's economic practices (and many have) but it basically boils down to China wanting to become the backbone of the industrial world.slowslow325 wrote:Why are any consoles banned from China?
The 3DS will NOT be banned in China

Re: The 3DS will NOT be banned in China
Consoles were banned in China about a decade ago because the Ministry of Culture in China banned them after concerns that children were wasting their lives playing video games. Still, online games are huge in China as are pirated consoles and games.
Since the 3DS is one of the first major consoles to be released in China since the ban, it will probably be one of the best selling systems of all time, whether it is good or not (though it looks like it will be good). China's population is huge, so gaming companies have always wanted to sell there, but have been prohibited.

I know, it was weird because he wasn't stating his opinion or a very singular interpretion of something; he was stating well-established facts.
