I agree the company is very evil, but there are some great people that work for them out of blind gaming passion.

I went to a GameStop in Florida which actually kept all the good cheap PS2 games in their cases. Games like Magic Pengel (which I picked up) and RAD were of the sub-$5 price range, but were prominently shown off in their cases and with manuals.

I'd have to assume that meant that A) The manager knew his games, and B) The district manager actually gave them some freedom. While I worked at GameStop, I got neither A nor B.

A few years ago I bought resident evil 4 used. I picked the black label version on purpose since greatest hits was the same price and I prefer black label. Well about six months later when I go to play it, I realized that they gave me a greatest hits disc with a black label case/manual. Being super OCD with my games, I freaked out. So every time I go to gamestop, I must check that the disc and case match. This ever happen to you?

You should always ask to look at the condition of a used disc at any game store, thats common sense

Do you mean as a footstep into the gaming industry or something else?

I checked the bottom of the disc (game works perfectly) when I got it. This was before I was a serious gamer, and now I'm kicking myself over it.

This is a very interesting thread. I had no idea that some stores threw out old cases and manuals (if they were ruined it makes more sense, but if they were perfectly fine than that fuddles my brain :| ) I also didn't know that they sometimes marked used games as new and sold them at full price. That's just deceptive in my book. Luckily when I go into Gamestop I'm a strictly "used" game buyer so that really doesn't affect me.

I DID know that they sent off their old gaming guides to be "destroyed" after a certain period of time. I found that out when I went to buy one last year and the guy kept trying to ring it up cause it kept showing him "$0.00". The other employee had to explain that the guide was one that they were supposed to ship back to be destroyed, because apparently there's some sort of an experation date on game guides at Gamestop :? . Anyway, the one I wanted must have slipped through the cracks so he hands it to me and says, "Well, we can't sell it to you so...Merry Christmas and no, the alarm system won't go off as you walk out of the store."
