Yeah, but you can only resurface your discs so many times.Jamisonia wrote:There's also resurfacing which can be done cheaply.
What is the community view on storing games in DVD Binders?

You also can't resurface the label side of a CD. Dead is dead in that case.Limewater wrote:Yeah, but you can only resurface your discs so many times.Jamisonia wrote:There's also resurfacing which can be done cheaply.

Try short wide plastic bins that you could slide under your bedAmishSamurai wrote:I'm in a dorm and thus pressed on space. I only use the binder because I have nowhere to put a bunch of DVD cases. I leave those at home.

if you really want to save space and use sleeves, at least use individual sleeves that you can keep in a box of some sort. Put one disc in each sleeve.
These are great:

As long as they have the right kind if material. I had some issues years ago with scratches from sliding the disc in and out.dsheinem wrote:if you really want to save space and use sleeves, at least use individual sleeves that you can keep in a box of some sort. Put one disc in each sleeve.

I know, but it's so much easier. Can't we as a community sometimes just admit that yeah, this isn't the ideal way to store these discs, but if one takes care, the time before a disc becomes unusable is so far away its worth it for us to save ourselves the hassle of storing them in such a bulky way.flamepanther wrote:You also can't resurface the label side of a CD. It isn't an issue of not admitting it. I kept a bunch of CDs in a binder due to space restrictions, and I was extremely careful with it. However, I had no control over the cleanliness of the dorm building I was living in at the time, and my discs were destroyed irrecoverably. Having been through that, I really can't say it was worth it.Jamisonia wrote:I know, but it's so much easier. I've avoided binders ever since then because it was a horrible mistake, not because I'm a prissy collector. I'm one of those bastards who keeps all of his NES and SNES carts loose in a bin.

I can't stand those binders. The only thing I use them for is burned music CDs and burned movie DVDs.

What about just using a spindle and keeping the manuals and original cases in a crate somewhere?dsheinem wrote:if you really want to save space and use sleeves, at least use individual sleeves that you can keep in a box of some sort. Put one disc in each sleeve.

Spindles are worse than sleeves, in my experience.pakopako wrote: What about just using a spindle and keeping the manuals and original cases in a crate somewhere?
With a spindle, you have a much greater chance of getting concentric scratches, which are way worse than radial.
