My basement had furring strips (2x3) with dark pine panelings. I took all of it off. My plan is to frame up a 2x4 wall and foam insulate. If you are going to put up 2x4 walls why not just use fiberglass insulation?
After I stopped and looked back at all the pictures I posted, I became disgusted with my own excess. I deleted everything. Now I'm seriously considering whether or not this hobby of owning old video game crap still fulfills me. I'm going to put all my video games away for a while and re-evaluate my priorities.

There's a bigger story here somewhere. When you feel like sharing let us know, sometimes talking helps. Also these stories can help others in similiar situations.
Also nothing wrong with having a small modest collection if you want to cut back, and I am glad you're thinking things through instead of just selling everything off. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Well, excess in anything isn't good most times. While I have a decent amount of gaming stuff but I don't have a bajillion games nor do I have more than 4~5 consoles out/connected at the same time. I just keep my older stuff as it doesn't take up much space and I won't sell anything after regretting it as a kid.
I wouldn't fret too much unless this has consumed you like that dude a while back who lost his wife & kids over his collection/habits but self-reflection is always good. And like Brad said, bend an ear here if you like.
I can relate. I started cleaning out the unfinished portion of my basement, and some things just had to go. You start to feel suffocated by all the stuff.

Fiberglass insulation sucks. Really. There are a number of reasons: It doesn't stop air infiltration. It's effectiveness goes down when the temperature goes down.
@Samson, sorry to hear that you're down on the hobby. That's ok. Hope you get back into it soon. Like anything in life, you definitely don't want to over-do it but I think what you had before wasn't excessive in my opinion. Good luck!
I didn't really mean to cause a stink. I'm just re-evaluating my priorities.
Do I really need three hundred video games? Some of these games I've only played once, and never bothered to go back and beat them; I just went ahead and bought the next game on my "want list".
Do I really need fifteen arcade sticks? Does anybody? It's kind of absurd, isn't it?
I used to tell myself that buying all this junk made me happy. Maybe it did for a while, but it doesn't now.
My new years resolution is to refrain from buying any video games for one year.

The good points of this 1 year resolution: back-log catch up & getting this years games on sale/GH next year.
