Panasonic 3D0 Saves ?

Post by xmod »

I just bought myself a nice Panasonic 3D0 FZ-1, first time I see this system in "real" life even tho I have been gaming since 82'

i must say, I am quite impressed, decent features and robust system.
Trying to find a few exclusives for it, but games are hard to find for that now.

Never the less, the "no copy protection" allowed me to still try out a few games.

BUT
The infamous saves. So I read you need a save manager or use the one built-in games.
I played Gex for a while and was pretty sure the whole thing was saving, upon wanting to continue playing today, I was presented with 3 empty slots!!
Now I see here and there the mention of a battery, is it the case? Could the battery be dead and it is not saving, or am I facing other issues here ?

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

It really isn't very hard to find games for it. Amazon, ebay, all the big seller sites like that usually have them for a reasonable price. As far as your saving issue goes, I'll have to look into that further, as I haven't really ever wanted to save many of the games I was playing. It is a great system though, one of my favorites.

Very likely could be a battery issue. FZ1 isnt the easiest battery to replace, but if you have any soldering skills you should be able to do it pretty quickly.

You need one of the sampler discs. The fz-1 requires one to manage the memory, yours is probably full or needs reformatting. You can always burn a copy to use.

yeah. FZ-10 has a nice built in manager.
Some games also have a built in save manager.
I believed i used the demo disc back in the day as well.

I actually never did an FZ1 battery replacement. I would be interested in seeing the progress there. I'm sure it's a simple solder like some CDi models.

Thanks for the responses.

Never thought of the "full" memory possibility. Going to check that with save manager from a demo disk.

Although, I would also be interested in a tut for the battery, I have soldering skills no problem there. But upon looking for a tutorial, I couldn't find anything.

Thanks again to all responders.
