Can anyone recommend a good Wireless PS2 controller?
Personal reviews and links to buy appreciated...
Re: Can anyone recommend a good Wireless PS2 controller?
I personally had the Logitech wireless controller. I loved it. Obviously this is personal preference, but I preferred the feel of the Logitech over the PS2 controller. I'm sure someone will call me crazy. Let us know what you settle on!

I agree. This controller is awesome. They used to be a lot cheaper than they are now (I got mine for $20) - and they are not quite as good as the Wavebird - but I think that they are the best wireless controller that you can get for the PS2.Stark wrote:I personally had the Logitech wireless controller. That said, I have had a few issues with mine. I basically wore out the first PS2 logitech controller that I purchased. (The X button sticks, but it made it through a Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 marathon before that happened.) My other one would not power off as it should, and I would have to remove the batteries to keep it from wearing out looking for a signal. I received two more of these controllers for Christmas from my totally awesome wife, and they both work wonderfully.

I bought 4 of them (new) from gamestop last year for $14.99 each. I haven't used them yet but Logitech always have a good reputation (I also use their controllers on the xbox).
Another option is the Katana controller which I haven't used but heard good things about them:
Looks like you can get it from Amazon for $19:

Yeah I guess. I have a little problem with my thumbs slipping on the analog sticks for the PS2/3 and I never have that issue on the X360 or these controllers. My hand doesn't seem to cramp as much either. I can't speak to their durability, I never wore mine out, but I don't play PS2 anymore.noiseredux wrote: kind of like a 360 feel to it eh?

I've used Logitech ones in the past and they've worked well but the one I had doesn't fit well with the slim controller port.
Has anyone had any experience with the Katana one? I've read that it fits with the slim and is basically a slightly larger official controller which sounds awesome to me:

oooh I might go that route! I like the official controllers a lot, so an official wireless would probably be best for me.gtmtnbiker wrote:I bought 4 of them (new) from gamestop last year for $14.99 each. I have the Katana and the Logitech. They're both fine controllers in their own right, but if I had to choose one, I'd take Logitech by a nose.
The Katana's form factor is a lot more faithful to the original PS2 controller--this is both a good thing (it feels more authentic) and a bad thing (it retains the poor d-pad). The face buttons feel a bit stiff and I think there's a bit of lag. Also, the stock analog sticks are made out of cheap plastic, but if this bothers you, you can switch them out with authentic analog sticks from a wired controller.
The Logitech's form factor won't win it any love from purists, but its design stands on its own individual merit. The d-pad isn't a cross-pad but rather a full-plate Genesis-style pad, which makes for more comfortable use. It also more responsive than the Katana; in fact, I notice hardly any lag compared to a wired PS2 controller. The shoulder and face buttons also feel a lot more solidly build than on either the stock PS2 controller or the Katana.
